For all the new people out there

Well I wanted to share a few pics with the new members of RIU.

These pics are from my very first experimental grow. Had no idea what I was doing and was 5-6 years ago now.

Learned a load on this first grow.

If you look at these let me know what you see that is wrong.

I knew nothing. Used materials I shouldn't have used started with the incorrect bulbs for vegging. Like I said I knew nothing about growing but still wanted to.

This was a basic sterlite utility cabinet. With 8 23 watt CFL bulb, and 4 2" t5 bulbs that were off in spectrum as well.
If you notice pretty much all plants are stretched. I didn't have the lights close enough to the plants and had to make little kickstand for each plant.

It was an interesting grow for sure.

These next few pics are of my second grow cabinet. This one I built from furring strips (1x2x10 rough boards). Turned out pretty sturdy and worked well for a long while.

I do not have any finished pictures of this cabinet that i built. it was 6x4x7. Had a larger area for the flowering and vegging. Had a separate area for the light ballasts and supplies.
The whole box was enclosed with the 1x2s and then the inside was lines with plastic and then lined with mylar
<--- USE IT or equivalent.
By the way 1 bundle of 10 - 1x2x10 where I live are $10 a bundle
Here is the light setup. (I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW.....Made of wood and what a huge fire hazard)

This was a made system. Was made cheap because I got the ballasts for free. Otherwise it would have cost the same to buy a HPS/MH System.

The thing is I did not well plan anything out because I was anxious to get growing. What I should have done was talked and read and read and read and talked before I jumped into these projects as I really had no idea what I was doing.

Now I learned a load and have helped many grow.

Plan your grows compare rooms, tent, cabinets, lights, pretty much everything you need before you start. Will get you a good idea of start up cost and save you a load of headaches during the process. The sky is the limit as long as you have the funds and capability to pull of your grow. Its fun and if your a project person. Build your own.

Just thought I would share a little of what I started with and if you look at the pics what mistakes I made along the way. (first few pics)

This is an amazing hobby and can be challenging at times.

Ya, It's a lot of know how just to get things correct, but I had a lot of fun with all the micro grows(all for learning) and full scale mock ups etc. In my day the only info was a book called,"grow your own stone", which is like total BS:) It wasn't until about 1990 I had what I needed to know to run commercial hydro. The bucket thing was a cool idea but it wasn't what we needed.
