I've been flowering for about 5 days now and I was wondering just how bad the smell will get. Living in an apt at the moment and I've heard a few suggestions, but what are you all doing about "that funny smell coming from your closet"?

well not really sure if that will work sounds legit and expensive. if you have an exhaust fan you could hook up a simple diy carbon filter also if you are worried and plants can smell very strong, like neighbor will call the cops strong if you dont try to curb the smell. depends on the strain though looks you your current set up should do some work

The plugins work pretty decently. I've been using them and they kind of mingle with the pot. Creates a fruity smell, with a tinge of something weird.

Their are also ozone generators, but their expensive if you wanna buy. You can look up some plans to build your own. They seem pretty simple.

Also, like it was said before, each strain will have a different strength of smell. So, what you need is only relevant to what you got.

i just started my first grow on flowering a few days ago, i put a bunch of bags of charcol in the box, i read it a few places, not sure if it actually works, but it seems to be at the moment. though this is my first grow, not sure how strong the smell will get, if it doesn't work i like that glade plug-ins idea, i might just throw one in the grow box anyway

Do you mean you just have charcoal sitting in your grow area?

Also, more than likely your plants won't start to smell until a few weeks into flowering. How strong the smell will be depends on the strain you have.

correct me if I am wrong, But I believe you need a specially charged charcoal in order to reduce the positively charged smells. It is also a good idea to put a venting system in with a charcoal filter on the end...

That's why I was asking if he just had it sitting in the room... wouldn't do much good.

If your anything like me you wanna hide the smell cheaply. Dryer sheets can be a lifesaver, you can put them everywhere and you can get a cheap brand for a $1. Put a few on the filter in your furnace for your Air Conditioner. This will constantly push that good smell through your whole apartment. If you wanna spend a couple of bucks at Walmart they have different smelling flavours that are made for those filters for the a/c unit. I think they are called filtermates, anyhow they are near the filters. A stronger smelling version would be lightly soak a rag in fabric softener such as Downy, it will work wonders. You could attach little-tree car scents that hang from your rear-view mirror to your fan in your set-up. You can find humidifiers cheap, most are used for use with Vicks vapor-rub which puts off that strong menthol smell.

The odoris really your THC receptors going off in the head. I really think that people are naturally drawn to pot. There are tons of houseplants that kinda smell like pot. And Tomatos Stink Worse than pot! So I wanna say alot of it is in ones head. We are drawn to it essentially. And DIY carbon filters work.....all odors!

Good way to test it is to fart into the filter, if it filters out your stank methane then its good. I made a small one for the bathroom that needs a patten on it. The ones sold in stores are too passive. The ones made here are for real. We all outta go in on a bathroom filter project. Cause fart fans don't filter and just push the air around at first.

There needs to be a favorite foods section on here.

Get a carbon filter and inline fan, you won't be sorry. Then you can grow as many plants as you want without worrying about the smell. They're not cheap but I use one in an apartment and I have some of the stinkiest strains you can get with no probs.
