Grow looks great. So from seed how long do poppies tend to take to fully develop? I had the impression they would be fast growers if grown indoors but i think im mistaken.

Unless I'm mistaken (possible), you can grow papaver anywhere (outdoors, in), but you may not be caught slicing the pods. Of course possession rules still apply. As long as you don't harvest you can plant your entire outside balcony with them. Seeds are now restricted however.

TY Kdox. that being said, if you are ever "caught" with an indoor grow setup using papaver, it's gonna look mighty suspicious.
Better to just plant them vigorously in your garden.
Just like when you pick mushrooms, the wise man picks many DIFFERENT mushrooms. and not 100 Psy and 3 boletes either.

The plant is illegal, like Peyote and weed. Get caught with a big ass garden full if you want to! It's a worse charge than weed, that's for sure. The seeds are legal though, funny ha ha, guess it's for culinary purposes, yum yum.

I think you have it backwards. I do know that seeds may no longer be imported. One needs merely go to a british site and try to order, u'll see.

You can buy seeds, but the reason they are legal is for culinary purposes. Cultivation is illegal in the states. I'm sure the local law enforcement wont mind a few growing in your flower garden, but a Papaver somniferum garden could land you in prison for awhile. Best to keep a large grow indoors.:peace:

A few in your garden could give law enforcement probable cause to search your home.

You can buy seeds already in the US. Imports are now restricted.

As for a large garden of Papaver Som, who would do such a thing anyways?
Surely you'll be chasing the tail of the dragon when ur done. I meant throwing a few out in ur garden of other plants. Sorry for the SNAFU.

i believe poppy seeds used for culinary purposes are precooked to remove the bulk of the alkaloids.
it is rare to have the police show up at your door cause you have some poppies growing in your garden. even though they are opium poppies they are still common and can be very invasive. in fact my neighbor has a patch that seems to get bigger every year... in his front yard.
