Found some long lost, old school genetics

So, I was doing a bit of organizing and cleaning, and lo and behold, I came across an old greeting card from at least 12 to 13 years ago. I open it up, and it's a card from back when Heaven's Stairway had their auction site.

I got three packs of very old seeds, with some promising old school genetics. Not sure who made them, but at the time I only bought from the most reputable of breeders......I was a bit of a pot snob at the time. So, what did I find in this time capsule?

1 pack of Blackberry Kush
1 pack of ((Haze x Skunk) x Haze) X Bubba Kush
1 pack of (Haze x Skunk) X Genius (Oh yeah......this one excites me, since I always liked C99)

I'd imagine they came from a pretty connected grower, as not just anyone had a cut of Bubba Kush and Genius at the time. Especially the Genius. And Blackberry Kush was kind of a new novelty and while it wasn't the most potent of smoke, it was a very unique looking strain at that time. This was from when OG Kush and Bubba Kush were just coming on the scene. Not sure exactly how old they are, but they are at least 12 -13 years old, and quite possibly older.

Not quite ready to try and sprout these just yet. So guess I'll have plenty of time to research the best methods of sprouting old seeds. Any pointers or suggestions would be welcome. I've never tried spouting seeds this old.

I dont know much about 13 year old genetics. But i think that if any of them arent on the market anymore then grow them and hope to get a male and a female bred! That would be the ultimate because then u could have a ton of seeds from genetics that arent around anymore.

does anyone have any knowledge about if they are in fact extinct? I mean just looking at the names they sound pretty common but u never know!

ether way i always find it fascinating when people find old seeds. I remember a post where someone found seeds that were 20-30 years old and where still good. AMAZING!

Haha, nope, none of those is extinct or anything like that. I didn't mean to imply that. They are just old, and bring back a lot of memories for me. Besides, they aren't like IBL's either, just some mutt crossings of some decent genetics. You never know how they will turn out, that's probably why I never grew them. I did have a bad seed buying and hoarding problem though, haha.

The Genius cut is probably the most rare. It's the special pheno of Jack Herer that the Brothers Grimm found and used to create Cinderella 99. They called the pheno Genius, and it was just a special Jack Herrer pheno that was ready to harvest in like 7 weeks. Pretty remarkable for such an up, sativa buzz in that short a time frame.

Of course, mine is crossed with a Haze, so that could add a good bit of time to harvest....depending on if the plant leans toward the Haze x Skunk or the Genius side of things. I'd think whoever made this cross was using Genius to try and bring down the flowering time of his Haze x Skunk cross, without losing any of the up, sativa buzz.
