I have a lumatek digital ballast(switchable). I tried to put one of my 400w MH bulbs in the socket and it doesn't fit.. my question is, if I buy a regular 400w MH magnetic ballast and socket, will my bulbs fit? I don't want to use the ballasts they came with. Also, why do magnetic ballasts seem so much more expensive than the digital? What's a very good magnetic ballast company? I want a 600w HPS, and a 250w, 400w MH. Thanks in advance for any help. PEACE

Depends, what type of socket do you have, Mogul based or medium based? You can buy bulbs to fit either or. You just picked the wrong size bulb, that's all. Retun it and ask for the proper size.
Medium base is the size of a normal socket, mogul is a bigger one.

Could you tell me of a good magnetic ballast company? I'd like to use my lumatek for flowering, and just get a new 400w ballast!
And I don't get the difference between an MH light, and a Conversion MH light. If I were to purchase a switchable, can I buy the cheaper REGULAR MH bulb??

I really only deal with them, and www.bustan.ca. Those are the only 2 places I buy my stuff from. The conversion bulbs basically let you use the bulb in and HPS setup to produce MH like spectrum.
If you are using a dual ballast that can take both MH and HPS bulbs, then yeah, just buy the cheaper bulb at the proper wattage.

How high are you? sheeesh . Why would you want magnetic ballasts if already have lumatek digi's? Digital are way beyond magnetic. Also help me out with this one. If your bulbs dont fit, you plan on buying all new lights/ballast's? why not return the bulbs for the right ones?
I was looking into magnetic ballasts because of their proven life expectancy. But after thinking, I'm going lumatek incase I ever want to upgrade to a bigger HPS for flower, then I can still use the smaller ballast for MH for veg. I got 4 x 400w ballasts with bulbs for $100. I didn't realize there were different size bulbs/socket or whatever, so I thought I'd have to buy a straight MH magnetic ballast. ya dig.
