Fox Farm Question

I have some Fox Farm Ocean Forest and some Miracle Grow Perlite I planned on using for an indoor grow. However, I just got the thumbs up for a few outdoor plants in a wooded area and I wanna use these supplies outside. I was thinking of starting a couple seeds in a germination tray and transplanting them into the ground with the Ocean Forest. I know its potting soil but will it work in the ground?

Thanx in advance! :bigjoint:

That was the quick! lol Thanks!

How big of a hole should I dig? I have tons of bag seed that I plan on planting but also wanted to make a couple spots for some good genetics from a seed bank. And as far as fertilizers go, when its time I sprinkle it on the ground above the plan like the mulch around shrubs like the landscapers, right?

yes, it will.

I found that digging 100 holes every year tends to suck. This is what i now do to save my back.I use 1 bale of promix per plant.I add some worm castings and some extra pete moss as it helps retain water.i then dig a shallow bed like 4-6 inches and plant on top of it in the bale of promix. Then i feed them with advanced nutes heavy harvest. Results are awesome...8-12 footers every year and i don't have to dig any damn holes.

I've done this before, dig you a hole so deep and so big around and then fill with the potting soil and plant your seed right square in the middle of it and you are all set.

Is it okay to grow near a random wild plant that has already started growing? That means that there is enough light in that particular spot, right?

Just make sure there isn't a lot of roots in the ground where you want to plant your plants. I would also suggest starting them inside for a few weeks before putting them outside, it will make the transition go a lot smoother. Good luck dude

just take notes or keep track of where the sun goes from sunrise to sunset to pick your best spot.

Sounds good! I was watching JC's Ultimate grow this morning to kinda get a feel for where I should plant. I wanna do a couple spots though. There's both cliffs and a creek. should I plant closer to them? or should I just use he creek as a water source? Water won't be too much of a problem though.

I also use promix BX w/ mycorise(25 bucks for a 3.8 compressed bale). I dig em up to my knees and about 2 ft around. Takes a little over half a bale. I use heavy harvest too because some of the organic food i had used in the past attracts way to many animals. I line the hole with a trash bag and chicken wire. The chicken wire is burried half way so that i dont have to stake it. Mostly for the beavers in my area.
Takes me a bout 20-30 a hole to dig.

Here's where the problem is! I won't be at liberty to do this. I do have some cubes and a germination tray with humidity dome. As well as some small pots. Could I just start in the small pots after the last frost?

thats similar to what i do with the exception that i just make a raised be so i don't have to dig.most people know this, but you can go to the local garden supply place and buy promix by the pallet and its alot cheaper. We buy 3 pallets every year theres 30 on a pallet and i pay just under 20 bucks a bale which is a 450 dollar savings. So if your doing alot of plants you might wanna check that out

So, how much soil should be used for each plot/plant?

Well i put a whole bale some worm castings and a little pete moss to help retain water to each plant.I start my plants indoors in my veg room under 1000's until they are like 2 ft and then i stick em out.

okay! How big do they get and how much do you normally yield by sticking them outside at 2 ft?
