im about to start my grow in 3 days. fine tuning the last minute stuff. i was wondering if fox farm light warrior was a good soil to veg in after that i would switch to ocean forest for flowering. should i mix it with some perlite too? what percentage? and if i use their nutes, just follow their nute feeding plan?

I'.ve only used it for germination but it does well. As for growing I mix FFOF and repot whenever they have some real leaves. Tiger bloom and solubles through flower but I barely feed during veg, the soils already pretty rich.

The soil mix I use is pretty similar to the "super soil mix" ....
5bags - FFOF
1bag - Steer manure
1bag - Compost
25lb - Worm castings
5lb - coco coir
5lb - pulverized lime
5-8gal - perlite

I use FF's ocean forest and light warrior

2 parts FFOF
1 part LW
1 part perlite

as far as their nutes, I had nothing but problems with their solubles so I stopped using them altogether. I now use Blue Mountain Organics and home brewed AACT's.

is this for both veg and flowering? and what happened when you used their nutes?

I've heard anything with "EDTA" in it cannot be considered organic as EDTA's are synthetic? I also heard EDTA's makes smoke harsher when smoked? Fox farm grow big is full of this stuff.

Correct. From the Fox Farm website:

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"Our Peace of Mind® and Happy Frog® fertilizers are 100% organic. Our Big Bloom™ Liquid Fertilizer and all of our soils are also organic. We do offer some fertilizers with mineral-based, time-release ingredients that are not classified as organic. These include American Pride® and Marine Cuisine® fertilizers, Tiger Bloom® and Grow Big® liquids, and our soluble products like Cha Ching®, Beastie Bloomz®, and Open Sesame®."

If you use just water in the last few weeks would it still be harsh?

I am running an experiment with one bag of FF and 1/2 bag of Light warrior thru out/ I also am running side by side some soil I made with Coco, Pete and Perlite. Bumped some nutes in there, so far they are keeping up with one another? Organic, smorganic----if you eat micro popcorn or smoke your weed you are crzy to even worry about the rest of the stuff. Besides you flush the plant when done and get most of the fert out---right?
Hell the water has flouride in it not to mention the vegetables and or fresh made salads smothered in preservatives so they stay fresh looking at the market.

I use 60% Happy Fog and 40% Ocean Forest, one good feeding the day you start flowering, then just sugar water or black strap molasses water( after you cook it down ) and water you let sit for a day or so. One more feeding with THE food you use then start your flush with nothing but water for the last three weeks of the plants life. I flush five gallons of purified water or tap water that you let sit for a day or so, threw my five galon pots, one a week for three weeks before harvest, before harvest shut the lights off and let em sit in the dark for a day or two then your gold.

Most all of the really good organic soils have all the nutrient you need already in the P.H. balanced soil. Over feeding WILL kill your plant, Never under estamate what the soil already has to offer. Respect

Why would you flush an organic grow?

I use a 50/50 mix of OF and Happy Frog with alot of perlite. both soils already come with perlite but add more.

Really would this be good for hotter climates...I have found a FF supplier near by (well 2 hours away) but there is a local Nursery that carries Happy Frog but no FF.... they have Super Soil instead, was gonna opt otu for this cause its easier but Dont know how great it is and the lady couldnt tell me anything about it! Anyone else used Super Soil?

any food your giving your plants that your feeding them threw the soil, is going to leave trace minerals salts and other cemicals from the water unless, unless you have an R.O. system ( reverse osmosis). every time you feed threw the soil little bits of little bittts are being left behind eventualy your soil will be over saturated with nutrient and will start to burn your roots and damage your girls. I use all roots organics Buddah Bloom, Trinity, ans so on. I screwed up a few years ago and was using the " recomended amounts" on on the gallons, with fox farms genral potting soin in the red bag and burnt the shit out of my plants! still using both products but had to really revise my feeeding and the results are great! I only use 1/4 of what is recomended and the ocean forest and happy frog are already full of potash, and castings and guano. flushing organics, hydro, whatever, will slowly and non evasivly start to leach all the nutrient away from the plant at the end of its life ( last three weeks ) so when you " lite up" your not tasting nutrient or getting that burny sizzzzle and harsh taste you get from herb that was never flushed. purified water or distiled work the best, if your going to use "tap" let it sit out for a coupple of days before you flush with it. Respect

I agree with akgrown and rd116. I too use FFOF mixed 2:1 with additional perlite. After 1 month I mix veg nutes per the feeding schedule at 1/4 strength and feed every other watering. After 5 weeks I go to 1/2 strength then go to full strength after week 6. I also use Bonticares Liquid Karma and Cal Mag Plus every other watering, rotating between the 2.

This is how I alternate feedings:
feed with nutes
water with Liquid Karma
feed with nutes
water with Cal Mag Plus
repeat...

My feeding schedule that works for ME:

All tap water PH'd to 6.2 after mixing is complete.

VEG (Grow Big, Big Bloom, Liquid Karma, Cal Mag Plus and Super Thrive @ 1 drop/gallon)
Weeks 1-3 No Nutes
Week 4 1/4 Strength Veg nutes
Week 5 1/2 Strength Veg nutes
Week 6 Full strength Veg nutes, continue until you flip the light

BLOOM (Tiger Bloom, Big Bloom, Open Sesamie, Beastie Bloomz, Cha Ching, Liquid Karma and Cal Mag Plus)
I follow the feeding schedule at full strength, including additives until the flush. (Open Sesamie burned one of my mystery bag seed strains, but all others love it!). I also continue alternating with the Liquid Karma and Cal Mag Plus.

Plain PH'd tap water with dissolved sugar the last 10 days and I end up with clean burning, beautiful plump ladies every time.

I do this also and use foxfarm nutes all the way thru and have a lot of success.
Most FF soluble nutes are chemical based, not organic. An organic grow medium without the addition of chemical nutrients does not require flushing. No amount of flushing will remove all the chemical deposits accumulated in the grow medium of a chemically fed plant and bacteria will continue to draw on them for nitrogen and other nutrients at plant demand until harvested. You might slightly reduce the chemical intake by flushing, but you won't eliminate it or the taste effect.
