Foxfarms Ocean Forest

Im planning on using 2 bags per plant this year of this foxfarms oceanforest soil. Last year it was the miracle grow moisture control mixed with black gold which worked well. Anyone have any input on the foxfarms soil ? Thanks.

Very rich, don't fertilize plants for first 2 weeks. Add more perlite.

yes let your seedlings use up the nutrients that start in that ocean forest for about two weeks and I haven't used any perlite, just the soil throughout the grow. I am about 60 days into my flowering cycle and everything is going great, the soil is perfect for growing.

those should get huge if you do it right!

yea i also used foxfarm nutes for my grow and was completely satisfied with its results, id suggest it to any grower. However since ur using it outdoor u might want to keep in mind that some of the nutrients in the bag (Fish emulsion, bat guano, earthwork castings, crab meal) , might attract more animals then u want!

I have fish at the bottom of some holes ive dug and people on here were like o man thats gonna get dug up right away, nothings touched it. i think youll be fine

I use Foxfarm exclusively outside and have know problems with critters, but Pigs is another story though! I live in a rural area of Hawaii(Puna),where it's not uncommon to see 150 to 200 pound pigs roaming through your yard looking for food(veggie garden). But I have a PitBull who patrol the perimeter

I sprayed all around my Fox Farm Ocean Mix Hefty bag pots with liquid fence. That should keep the bastards out...It smells just putrid...

I grow indoors with soil and I use Ocean Forest. It's the best stuff you can get, in my opinion. The plants in the pics are in ocean forest.

I used a bag and that got me all the way up until the start of the flowering cycle where i repotted about 2 weeks in, to 5 gallon pots.

So two bags total, they're pretty big and only cost about 15 bucks, but then again it depends on how many plants you want to grow.

Kool. Ill plan on 2 bags per plant. I have built a fence enclosure (no top) about 4-5 foot high all around them. Framed 2x2's with wire fencing material air stapled to the framing . There are deer, rabbits ,goats, goefers etc. in the area. The wire fencing is my insurance that the animals wont get to it. Thinking of going with electric fence on top of the enclosure as well for the thieves. Also have a few surprises for those bastards. If you grow it....they will come.

isn't that rather a lot for one plant? How big of holes do you plan to dig? Perhaps I'm missing something here? I never dig holes myself, I use "grow bags"for the very reason that rip offs might be in the hunt. If something doesn't feel right, I have the luxury of moving my plants to another location.
As a matter of fact I just transplanted some of my 'girls' yesterday. I will finish the rest tomorrow. Going from 3 and a half gallon bags to 5 gallon bags is a big difference though. Or at least it is visually in my opinion. I feel now I really have to hide my crop!!! I'm hoping that bigger bags doesn't translate into more pigs investigating that fine earthy smell coming from a 5 gallon grow bag full of Foxfarms soil! I don't wanna have to kill these buggars..

I like the foxfarm as well---I will mix in extra bat guano in the bottom of the soil so when the roots hit the middle of the flowering cycle they get a big boost. I like to mix in an extra 25%perlite and 25%fytoflake to the mix.(I don't feed nutes.for the first week). I also some of the FoxFarm nutes in the ppm range of 1200-1350 for flowering------note: The foxfarm nutes are used at 1/2 or 50% of the label feed chart dose to get those ppm numbers.

foxfarms OF is good stuff. Like many said I would add perlite to it, they seem to have changed there recipe and it dosnt drain as well as it used to. Also I did have problems with some squirrels and raccoons while using it at first. But they seem to be over it, and dont bother me anymore.

2 bags per plant is alot tho, I think each bag can fill up 2, 5 gallon containers, so that would be 20 gallons of soil for each plant. I mean I guess if you think your plant is going to need that much then go for it, but I think its an overkill. 1 bag a plant should be fine.

I love the idea of the fish in the hole. Might have to try it at the end of the season---Should be able to get a good price on some fish around then.
