"Recorded in 1969 this was the Four Season's grand concept album, their rather late entry into the informal competition of musiciansd at the time to create their own masterpiece psychedelic album in the vein of "Pet Sounds" or "Sergent Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band." With the production and studio musicians of Frank Sinatra, this album was a unique blend of 60s psychedelia and nightclub jazz. It was actually a huge critical success, adored by John Lennon as one of his all-time favorite albums. John Lennon also enjoyed the insertion of a close copy of the refrain from "Hey Jude" into the title track. This is perhaps the earliest "Mash-up" ever produced, although it was not done so in the digital way they are done now.
