The trick with most major banks is to get a direct deposit going or to always have a $1500 (varies between banks...sometimes it's $2000+) to qualify for free checking/savings.

But I wouldn't bank with BoA regardless of if they're free or not... They'll take any and every chance they get to rip you off(personal experiences... GRRR!!!). Same goes for Chase, I liked WaMu but Chase is a shitstorm.

Also, there's always credit unions and small, local banks that still offer free accounts I believe... No strings attached.

I opened a checking and savings account at Chase.
Its free if i keep over $300 in the checking acc.

I would definately check Chase out, good for students.

your local credit unions usually have free checking and/or savings. usually with a minimum 5.00 balance to keep the acnt open.

in yet another attempt to bilk blood from a turnip, the goverment is attempting to pass a law mandating all financial instutuions much charge for these services, so the government can then tax them and us more for it.

stand up and be counted, for what you are about to recieve.

Any bank but bank of America.
I have a free checking and savings account with bank of america for like 5 years I believe. Its their student account thing and it lasts 5 years from when you get it and then as long as you are a student I believe.

how good is us bank really? i have them locally but never been to one or know anyone that has...same goes for chase...

lakota bank huh? are they legit? i went to their page and it seemed...interesting..i almost wasn't 100% sure if it was a scam or not...

I currently has a wells fargo account but i dont keep anything in there...main reason being is that bank has screwed me over...sometimes i put money in there and it would mysteriously vanish...i'd call them up and they'd pretend like idk what im talking about...idk if it was the bank or someone hacking accounts but the money would vanish without showing it being spent..

the customer service sucks...so i only use that account when i wanna get something online really...other than that theres usually like $2 in it. lmao...

Lakota is real, they just deal in ounces instead of dollars.

what kind of dividends does one get for the 100z donation? how much was the 100z in real USD?
Their paying over 7% interest right now- Higher than anywhere else, and the Dividend last year was over three Ounces, which is around $120 in your 'real dollars' but you shouldn't think of it that way. as for how much is a hundred ounces? that depends on what you pay for them...but I can tell you their less today than they will be tomorrow. And the lakota will give you loans and help you more than any other place.
