Hi all! How are you today?

I recently received a single lovely copy of "Ice," the 1998 Cannabis Cup winner. It's ready to be planted, but I'm seeing something on the petioles that look like it was "preflowered" to determine sex. I thought, no prob, looks female enough, but now I see stuff that looks less familiar in my grow, like BALLS, and I'm hoping you all can just take a peek at the images and cast some votes!

Male? Female? Mutant? Herm? Why would someone preflower a clone? I guess if you didn't know the sex of the donor, huh.

Def looks female - let it go & see what pops. Breeders frequently "clone for sex" meaning you take a clone, 12/12 it & see whatchagot. Tells you if keeping the host plant is worth it.

Right, I was planning on it, but it was going to share an EarthBox with a closely matched G-13 sister. Now I'm rethinking. Wanted to do a side by side grow in one box. I'm in experiment mode.

But if it turns out "different" I can't remove it from the room with out dragging the other plant along... hey, I could just let them "get it on" in private, and produce what I believe I'd have to call Ice-13, or I-13. Or, 13 Blind Ice!

And if it had been such a clone, then I have a clone from a plant grown from seed right??

13 Blind Ice, thats funny shit - I'd like some seeds if it works out.
As far as if she's (?) grown from seed, well, not necessarily - could be a clone of a clone ... You get the picture, some keep cloning off of a good mother for years with out letting them flower.

Of course, but if you've selected a mother, you've selected a female. Why the need to sex-check a clone from a mother--that's the point of having one: no question as to sex. If it was a clone from a sex-unknown plant, then I can imagine doing a check, seems tedious to clone unknown plants. I understand breeders actually save time and money by holding back one set of clones for a 12/12 check from new hybrids back so they can know in advance which are the boys. But I don't know if this comes from a breeder or not. Though I suspect. Let's hope.

This is my first plant from a strain other than the G-13 I've been working with (purchased 2 from store, 25 clones taken so far.). I'm wondering if it's possible to trigger sex-reversal for any of my G-13s?

Perhaps the clone you obtained was the "sex check", cause when I do it I generally have no use for the clones after they show me the goods - they're too small to intigrate back into general population - just a thought.

Think fast, Boy or Girl ?

I took a look at the earthbox link - pretty cool, I'd do away with the wide castor legs, other than that looks pretty functional. I've seen something like that sold for tomatos etc... Do they work well for you?
I started w/ 14 widow's but had to chop 3 (2 boys & a herme) two plants each in 5 gallon rectangular buckets (w/ holes drilled in the bottom) sitting in tupperware tubs. Is working pretty well so far, I'm a Scrog dude, screen is set at 29" & in the 3rd week flower its a solid 5' hedge. Lots of bending & training going on in my closet !!

Eleven, huh? My G-13's have been running to 7-8 weeks. I guess I'll have to take more patience pills!

Thanks for the Ice data, cream8. And thanks to all who've dropped in. I'm happy that the thing I thought was gonna be a NUT, wasn't. Whew, my only copy and I almost had to send it back! :)

@ GWN, the crazy wide legs are possibly a new accessory. Look at my albums (link in sig) and see that I use no wheels or whatever, mine sit flat on the floor. You can order normal casters that snap into reinforced holes in the base. I guess the outrigger wheel set could be helpful when growing 15-foot things. But in my space, yes, I have to duck to go in and walk around, so I keep those 2 inches ABOVE the boxes... :)
