Free seeds from AMS, strain accuracy

I hope this is ok since there is already a thread about amsterdam marijuana seeds.

I know a lot of people have complaints about this company, but my question is for those who have actually received and grown their seeds. I ordered ganja dwarf and those are the ones i've planted so far, of those of you that ordered seeds how many feel like they got what they paid for.

i'd also like to know what the free seeds are like if anyone has grown them.

thanks!

Never heard of ganja dwarf...

The colombian red haze I am growing were free cuz I spent a certain amount on my blueberry. Just cuz they are free doesnt mean they are bad. The plants look fantastic to me and all the reviews Ive read about my "free seeds" have been great.

did you order from AMS? I think i saw a different seed company offer those, but ams sends them with every order. I asked them about the strain and they said that they were a gift from one of their customers and that they were a indica/sativa hybrid.

I thought you were just sayin you got free seeds from them and you wanted to know if anyone has had experience with free seeds... my bad. But you can look it up and see the stats on it and make sure its worth your time growing. In my opinion you might as well give all bud a try.

Nik.....I have ordered from AMS several times and never had a problem. I took 3 of the 10 freebies and are growing them with my Light Of Jah. All 3 turned out to be females. Probably just blind ass luck..or maybe just good Karma. There was no label on the freebies but they look like more of a Indica strain. Larger leaves ,shorter plants,etc...But all look healthy. It's always good to have a couple of different strains to choose from. Variety is the spice of life my friend....just my experience...

I am actually growing my second generation of Ganja Dwarf right now. I have had a problem, actually. The seeds came really quick, and that is great, but only four sprouted. Two male, two female. I bred them and immediately got 235 fresh seeds and 1/4 oz of smokeable left over from the females. The smoke was a nice Indica buzz, no complaints there.

The problem is this: mine have never autoflowered. I end up waiting, and waiting, and waiting and eventually bring the light cycle down to 12-12 to flower them. My first batch actually took from October to February, which is way longer than they advertise. They say Ganja Dwarf is an autoflower and even refer to it as "Lowryder". I am convinced that it is just a small, non auto-flowering plant. How are yours doing?

Just cuz they are free doesnt mean they are bad. The plants look fantastic to me and all the reviews Ive read about my "free seeds" have been great.

I am always somewhat dubious about any free beans. Of course it does not have to mean they are bad but most I have ever heard about or received were from lower dollar lesser named breeders and beans that when sold bring a much lower price than most other beans.

Just consider for a moment why the beans are lower priced to begin with and why the seedbank gives them out for free to customers who make other purchases.

It can only be because they are lesser in quality because if they were not they wold be bringing much higher prices and they would not be thrown in for free with other purchases.

I would say they are almost always going to be better than bagseed but I could not go so far as to say that any of them will match up with the gear produced by better breeders.

I would not say that bigger is better, though on that one the females here might disagree at least until they read what will follow, but in my experience I have had much better luck with large fat shiny beans than with tiny dull beans and in my case every free bean I have ever received was tiny or dull or both.

Some germed well and others did not. Of those that germed most grew fairly well but none were really very impressive and none produced what I would consider to be top grade bud or close to being on par with the quality of the bud from beans I purcahse.

Because of that I have wondered if, regardless of them being free, they are really worth growing because in the same amount of time and for the same amount of effort and expense I would have ended up with something that yielded more and was higher quality.

So I have begun to store up the freebies like a chipmunk storing up seeds and nuts for the winter and if I find myself shy of beans someday while they are still viable I will use them then.

If they are no longer viable at that time I have not really lost much in my opinion and certainly not enough for me to be at all upset about.

That is just my two cents on free beans.

I figure the freebies are usually the oldest ones on the shelf that aren't being sold so instead of letting them go to waste they give them away as customer loyalty. On the other hand I have gotten quite usuable seeds from certain places as freebies that I was happy to receive, but some places seem to send the ones that no one wants because they have 7 month flower times, etc., for some reason some people don't care, if they are free they are the greatest beans in the world, for me if they suck I just toss them as another waste of time I don't need to concern myself with.

So, I just wanted to add to this. I have just used ten of my AMS free seeds, and I have to say it is working out well. 10 out of 10 sprouted, and a few are kind of exotic looking. One is very stunted, another has very pointy leaves, another has a FAT stem... just like they say, these seeds are randomly bred with some interesting characteristics. They seem viable from my experience.

Just a question to add though, does anybody think it is possible they send the wrong strains? My lowryder does not necessarily look like lowryder.

Ganja Dwarf = lowryder (not sure if LR1, LR2, or hybrid, but it's LR).
Yeah, if you look on the web site, that is obvious. However, this isn't by Joint Doctor, so it is better to refer to it as Ganja Dwarf... kind of like referring to a tissue as a Kleenex. Its basically the same, but not "name brand"

all my free seeds from attitude did better than my "cannabis cup" winning strains ive bought from greenhouse and dutch passion.... the barneys farm held its own with the free seeds but i was surprised at how horrible the strains were that i paid over $200 for and how much better the free seeds were. i only bought 5 packs of each , but i thought i would get at least 1 good pheno from them, but it didnt happen....
i only got 1 of each free seed strain and they were all winners, and all the seeds were way bigger in size as well... but i did get one free seed that hermied out (skunk #1)

lol I have to agree with you at this point

My free G13 WW and Super Skunk came out better than all 3 top of the line strains I ordered from Sensi. The NL was NOT NL at all but a sativa haze that took 10 weeks to finish. The Cali Indica gave me 2 fems out of 10 and both hermied.

I'm wondering about the age of the seeds that the Attitude gets from the top retailers. I've had messages from a few people who posted on the Sensi forum about the same problem as mine with the NL. They all ordered from the Attitude too. Some of the Sensi forum mods are fucking pricks tho. If you ask about problems with their strains you get a fucking attitude and if you mouth off you get banned.

Who can you blame in this situation? The truth is out there. Either the Attitude is fucking with the expensive seeds or the seeds are old as shit, or Sensi is sending the Attitude fucked seed packages because the seeds were all sent to me in the original breeder packs.

All 10 of the NL seeds were very small and dark. Same thing with the Cali. No fat brown ones with the tiger stripes. Not sure if this means much but they just didn't look fresh while the freebies were all nice and fat with stripes.

I still don't think the G13 free stuff is top of the line tho. You get nice yields and it comes out decent enough but I've seen better.

i keep trying more and more new shit from different companies and not too many winners.
but i do have one really good "clone only" strain that use as the main bulk of my crop, but i am still always lookin for somethin better...but like i said ive gone threw a lot already and the only thing i grew more than once was white berry from paradise seeds, but it could have yielded better.

i just got some chocolope, lsd, blackberry, blue widow, power kush, and moby dick... will see if any of those dont end up in the garbage.
