fresh air intakes

First off sorry if this is posted some where, I just can't find the answer.

Hi all. A simple question I hope. Should I get my fresh air intake directly from out side of the house? I live in an area that gets really cold in the winter and can get damn hot & humid in the summer. I am thinking the fresh outdoor air is the best but I would think a "dust shroom" cap needs to be on the intake so no pests, molds or other funk gets into the room.

Thank you in advance.

i use the outside air as an intake and have a screen over it for bugs. have the lights on at night when its cooler out. it is hard to control humidity levels when the exhaust is on when its bringing whatever it is outside. i make due but its the way i have to do it.

taking the air from inside the house then exhausting it to the outside would be best. your house is a controled temp. and when the a/c runs for the house, it not only cools but dehumidifies.

just pull in air from a nice cool place of ur house
because....
thats what i think he want to know. draw it from inside the house that way your temps dont drop like crazy or your fan shuts off and smell starts leaking outside. + air from inside the house will be more enriched with co2!

Thank you everyone. I just was not sure if the air that comes into my house is exchanged enough with good fresh outdoor air.

The indoor air wood be dehumidified and no bugs and filtered, and room temp. But I do see what you saying about fresh air. Only problem is cooling it this summer. But I know you got it under control.

I have to agree with everyone about drawing from indoors.

It gets hot as hell in the summer where I live also, and I got too many bugs into my grow rooms when I was drawing outside air, so I switched a long time ago.

My flower room is 10'X24'X10'h, I cool it with a 12,000btu AC plugged into an independent thermostat and have a built in 8" inline fan that's ducted under the floor drawing cool air from the bottom of the veg room, that air is cooling the lights.
The air in the flower room is exchanged into my veg room which is 20'X24'X10'h by passive vents mounted high on the wall near the ceiling. The warm air in the veg room is forced up into the attic by a single whole house type exhaust (1,120 cfm) on a timer that is mounted in the ceiling. At the bottom (where cool settles) of my grow room I have another 8" inline fan (720cfm) drawing air from a centrally cooled home.

My flower room temps during lights on are between 76-79 degrees and 74-77 lights out, but I might add, the walls and ceilings are very well insulated and this is important.
