From Outdoors to Indoors?

Ok, I must admit I must have gotten rusty since the last time I grew a plant. But I guess i'll find out the hard way. One thing I do want to defintely get an answer on though is something I've never done before.

I've never grown a plant outdoors, however it's summer, the sun is strong and the temperatures are nice. I want to start a plant in soil outdoors. But of course it wont flower in time to be done before it gets too cold, so I'll have to keep it warm. The only way I'll be able to keep it warm would be to move it indoors in the mid-late fall, maybe even way before that. My question is, would that work out? I would bring it inside under CFLs with a timer, fan, etc..

A plant that's used to direct sun isn't going to be happy under CFLs. Get a 250w HPS

I've dug up females in September and moved them into containers, then indoors, to flower.
IMO, the biggest issue in this is insect pests, so be sure to rid your plant of any prior to going inside, and maintain a close watch for baddies the first month. Don't forget to re-spray for eggs/nymphs at 2-3 weeks inside.

Thanks, bugs I can easily take care of. Problem is with HPS is you need a ballast and some sort of heavy duty socket. That must cost a fortune to run, plus idk where id buy that around here, however is saw a box at my local hardware store that said ballast but the box was somewhat small compared to the ballasts ive seen in the jorge cervantes movies and in pictures.

....does this sound better? I grow it under CFLs indoors. On a nice day however (not everyday) i'll bring it into the sunlight.

I played with growing outside and putting them inside to get my 12 hours of darkness. Several days mostly out of laziness, they were left inside under low power florescents. Six long tubes altogether. It worked well though I felt the held back on the flowering when inside. The more often I put them out the better off I was.
