...From Scratch...

Allrighty...I guess this next part is obligatory: "I'm new to this blah blah blah"

Okay, I've got a 3' deep, 6' wide, 8' tall closet. It has one 60 watt bulb in a fixture with an outlet.

I was wanting to start with the basics: seed + dirt/fertilizer + water + light = living green. Hopefully, I want to ideally harvest once every other week.

I've already got a healthy supply of decent seeds, but the whole growing-the-actual-plant part is kind of foreign to me. What sort of things would you all recommend for someone who isn't willing to spend too much on set up?

Thanks a bunch!

for one..use clfs..they are cheap as hell and very effective..at first go with 6500k bulbs (daylight)..you can get 100w ones at walmart that cost like $8 bucks for a twin pack..you would probably want like 2 per foot(depending if you are planning on using the entire space for growing)..also pick up a cheap timer..(i think they are like $6 or $7 bucks)for the light cycles...what color are the walls in there?

First off: What are clfs? XP

Secondly: The walls are white or some off-whitish color, which, judging from what little I know about how light travels, that should be a good thing, right?

read a bunch on rollitup. and think about what you want to do for a week or two. this time thinking will really pay off in the end. i started with cfl's and went to hps and spent way too much money not thinking.

commit like 100 to rollitup. you got a decent starting place. good luck

Really don't know how you can possibly achieve this with that space.
Most strains take at least 8 weeks to flower + vegging time, unless you go with a lowryder strain that takes around 9 weeks from start to finish.

The best lights to use are HID (high intensity discharge) like street lighting. HPS (High pressure sodium) is a good allrounder but a MH (Metal Halide) is slightly better for vegging.
good luck

well dont actually go an nab a street light, they are low pressure sodium bulbs and are not the strongest...:joint:
