Fruit flys from miracle grow ?

I have little bugs that kinda fly around a little seem to live in the soil look exactly like fruit flys maybe just a little smaller ?

Against better judgment I got some miracle grow and thought perhaps when I turned around a fruit fly or w/e got in and saw 1 come out of the bag but being the genius I am put my cubes in the soil.

Now I see the little bastards running around all over the soil maybe like 3 or 4 per pot (that I can see/notice)

So wtf is this bullshit and is miracle gro so fucking inept they actually have nasty infestations in their soil ?

Sounds like it could be a fungus gnat problem.

I am a fan of BT. gets rid of just the problem.

BT - Biological treatment, is the introduction of bacteria that targets ONLY a specific species.
Varieties are available for fungus gnats and similar plants.

Yeah you have plant lice. Miracle grow is fuul of them which is why I stopped using it. They will be in the thousands soon and they are hard to kill. They will not kill your plants so if you can tolerate them you'll be fine.

Do they negatively impact plants ?

They can be fatal to seedlings, but will generally not harm plants.
They are notorious carriers of pollen, so ensure that there are no male plants in close enough proximity for these guys to fly to.

They do use alot of O2 but I grew out 5 Big Bang with them and they seemed fine

I was worried about these too, we got them from miracle grow too i guess, but if they arent bad for the plants, i dont really care.

Plant lice, thats funny. That slang term is generally used to describe aphids and/or whiteflys. Sounds like fungus nats to me. And inch or so of plain washed sand on top of your medium should keep them in check. They like dont like to pass through the dry sand to get to and from the soil.
