I just wanna warn you guys with weak stomachs that this might not sit well depending on what you're doing right now.

Alright, so I've had a wart on my finger for a couple of months and all of the over the counter shit hasn't been working. So I went to the derm and paid $200 to have it removed. She says it might not come completely off the first time, but after two and definitely by the third treatment it will be gone. Alright, fair enough, at least she told me it might take a couple of times but that they WILL be able to get it off.

By the third time and $600 later not only was it not gone, it was growing...and painful. So I said fuck that. I bought a scalpel, pressure sterilized it, got drunk, and sliced the bastard off. Best decision I could've made. It's completely gone and there's barely a scar. Wish I could have that $600 back though.

So note to anyone with a similar problem: get drunk.

I had a couple on my hands and they eventually went away with time. But one of em on my hand I had lasered out by the dermatologist, and it grew back in the same exact spot years later. actualy warts never realy go away, if you looked at your skin under magnification I'm sure you could find a couple wart seedlings.

You got some balls to do that.. I dont think I'd ever be able to put a scalpel to my skin. Glad you were able to get rid of that damn wart, though ;-)

lol nice story. i had a wart burned off my foot when i was like 13 or 14...similar situation as you, had to go back 3 times but mine went away...painful as fuck though.

i used nail clippers to remove a mole once, that hurt like hell (less than the burning of the wart though) and it bled like a son of a bitch but its gone.

It was so much because I got the laser treatment and had to pay out of pocket. Whatever, that's a $600 I'll never see again.

And damn, that sucks. Have they come back at all?

It costs that much because insurance won't cover a dermatological "things." It's not medically necessary to have a wart removed. Also, if you were to go to your family practice/general physician they can do the same thing a dermatologist can do and I'm pretty sure they bill your insurance and you don't have to pay out of pocket.

Warts are also a virus, so although you burn it off, it's still in your system - think genital warts, the gift that keeps on giving, same thing - a virus.

I went to the doc once, had the guy freeze it off. It was ice fuckin' cold in his office, so as I was walking out, no big deal.. But it was the middle of summer, in southern Cali, at like 100F outside, oh MAN! Right when the heat hit my skin - instant pain! Turned into a scab and came right off within a couple of days.

Duct tape over the wart for a couple days works. The glue is a skin irritant and causes your immune system to kill it off. I read about it online and tried it, it works.

just remembered something...back in the day...20's and 30's or so....people used to hit the wart real hard, normally with a big book and supposedly that would take care of it....although i find it hard to believe that it actually works.

the duct tape idea is interesting, i wonder if it works...
the wart removal patches that you get from the pharmacy dont work for shit.

I had a wart on my finger that I couldn't get rid of. I tried that stuff in an arisol can that is supposed to freeze it off, it didn't work the first time. I ended up holding it on the wart for a lot longer than they recommended, but it did fall off after that.
