Alright, please don't spam this thread with posts telling me to not drop out. I'm 18 years old and am attending my 5th year of high school in an attempt to recieve credits in classes because I decided to fuck up my 9th and 10th grade years.... I can't take that back and now the school is telling me I need another year before I graduate! I've been dealing with some really bad depression lately and just feel like giving up. I really am just going to drop out but I was wondering if anyone here could give me some good advise on how not to fall off the face of the earth.... I still want to get my g.e.d. and maybe go to a community college but I'm moving to Vancouver, BC and really just see myself becoming a caregiver.... do you make any money off that?

regardless of your request for me to not do this - Do not drop out

that being said - if you do, take your G.E.D right away, as most of the information that was placed in front of you will still be retained from when it was once presented....you do NOT need to take a class to take your G.E.D. just find out when the exam is being held, pay for your test, and pass it.

on the inbetween, if you dont have a job find one - it only gets harder the longer you wait.

hope you "straighten up and fly right" and if you don't, i hope everything works out for your G.E.D. and your move out to canada. Good Luck! :peace:

A guy I knew was in a similar situation. Was gonna end up having to go to H.S. for another year. Got his GED in the spring and went to college in the fall. Just don't stop school. Get your GED and enroll in community college or university as soon as you can. The longer you wait the less likely you'll go back.

The world needs ditch diggers too.

If you don't have a legitimate learning disability, you have got to be one very lazy bastard to need 6 years of high schoolin.

Seriously dude, I'm sure you're not taking AP classes or anything tough, what the fuck is keeping you from doing the minimal amount of work they give you?

High school is fucking cake. Light and fluffy cake. If you can't handle it the real world is going to skullfuck you.

wow there's a lot of quick to judge shallow people on this forum.

getting your ged and going to a community college sets you at the same level as anyone else after you finish your AA. then maybe you can move on to a university and make something out of yourself.

fuck you judgmental people.

I'm just trying to inject some reality into the OP's situation.

It honestly makes me sad to see anyone drop out of highschool. I wish him the best.

fuck you

I bet you're still in high school and think your smarter than everyone else because you take ap classes. Let me tell you something, you're not shit. High school doesn't measure shit but who can play the system the best (i.e. who can kiss the most ass). So good for you, you went to class everyday and sucked your teacher's dick....
Let's see how sucking dick ends up for you in the real world. Let me know how getting no pussy and dying alone feels....

but hey at least you did good in high school you can always fall back on that.

But anyway, back to the op. How many more credits do you need?
If it's not that many I'd try to stick it out. If it's enough to require two more semesters I'd just say fuck it, get your ged and get into community college by the time school would be starting next year. That way you don't waste another year with high school bullshit.

you can go to night classes and get a real HSD ( high school diploma ) not a GED.. And i am pretty sure there wont be any fee either. check into it.. Fuck being 19/20 in high school dude.. the best thing about high school was if you were one of the "cool" ppl.. And I really bet if you were before, that your not now after your still in high school and will be for 2 yrs after your friends/classmates have graduated.. I really dont think I would hang around there just for a few credits.. You can jsut go to night school for like 6 weeks and get your HSD ( not a GED ) and probably be finished before this yrs class graduates. the only thing is you wont get to walk down and get ur diploma like all the other high school grads do.. but honestly, do you even want to walk that walk? in front of the entire graduating class that you should have graduated 2 yrs before them?? I think the only reason your SHOULD stay in hi school is if your parents just wanna see u graduate..Other than that I would skip right now and start taking the night classes they have for the adult high school diploma clases..You will get an actual HSD and not a crappy GED.. And you will have it BEFORE your current HI SCHOOL class will even graduate

I agree with the other guy...if you don't have a learning disability and aren't in all AP classes you shouldn't be failing HS unless you're lazy as fuck(or if you went through a life shaking event). I have a friend thats the most lazy person I know and he failed online HS...seriously he's sooo fucking lazy its like damn dude get moving or your gonna get fucked hard.

Listen, don't you think I've already been told all the shit about not dropping out? I mean, I'm liking the idea of going to night school. Haha didn't even think about that. I mean I love my life as I have a wonderful girlfriend who says she'll support whatever I choose to do even if it's not the smartest. I just think I'd be happier dropping out, getting my ged, getting a job anywhere and saving money while my gf finishes college then we move to Vancouver and I would have money saved up. Then I could go to community college there and after find some simple job.

just suck it up and do it man , dropping out int 12th grade is the dumbest thing ive ever herd , that means all of those days u woke up at 6 am got on your little yelow bus every day u did all that for NOTHING

not going to school at all is smarter than dropping out

and let me tell u something about a GED , it basicly tells your employer that u werent tough enough to make it through high school thats all it is man

but its ur life do whatever u want man

Haha, I like you man. So you dropped out at 9th grade? Don't you have to be like 16 to drop out or can you drop out earlier with consent of parents?

Anyways, going to school is different than maintaining a job. You have to learn shit, and bunch of it I hate knowing I'll never use it so it just doesn't register in my mind. I've suffered from horrible depression and I don't know but my mind has always liked to wander.... now with a job it's just a routine you do everyday.

meh, just pissed me off he came in here and told the guy he wouldn't amount to anything because he couldn't do high school and talked condescendingly to him the whole time. I'm sure the poster hadn't heard that a million times before. He had no point in posting other than to put someone down.

but anyway i'm off to smoke a bowl...

They let me drop out with consent from my dad cuz I had truancy problems since like 6th grade. They knew I was gonna drop out as soon as I was 16 anyway so they just let me do it.
