Fuck!

Sorry, I know that if I cant solve my own problems I shouldnt be growing in the first place. But I've just about reached the end of my rope. I recently added the fourth Big fan to my box and now I have four fans blowing in there but its still reaching tops 95degrees.

Before, my four CFL's were doing fine and reaching higher 80's but the plnts could have used more light. Now the plants are getting fucked up by the amount of heat thats comming out of the HPS light.

I dont know if you guys think I should rearrange my fans but im out of ideas and basically im over it.

I have to have my plants inside a box due to smell. My roomates moving out so I am moving into this bigger room but his closet is smaller so 3 by 5 foot box is as big as I can get.

MOGIE MY LOVE!!!!! I NEED A FKIN MAGICALL TEMPERATURE SYSTEM FROM GOD cause nothing else seems to work.....O, yeah, and buying another HPS with a fan on it is out of the question, The only thing I would consider buying is a nice fkin hundred dollar fan (but what difference would another hole in my box make if I already got four?)

If nothing else im just going to switch back to the four CFL's but thats a damn shame since I just bought a 120dollar light.

P.S. Buy no means am I bitching to get sympathy from any of you. I am just bitching now because 2minutes ago I cut a huge hole in my box and it did nothing for the temp in my box and everytme I do this I have to consider spending more money on carbon filters to cover the holes due to smell.

any comments appreciated.

How about a cheapo small A/C blowing onto your grow closet. You could try bowls of ice with the fans blowing on the ice its a pain but might work..

that looks dope Seedlessone, but im still not sure how exactly it works, like what part is the coolant part. and thanks mogie, im doing my figures now. Gardenandcats had a good idea I didnt even think of, cheap A/C's. Im looking aroud right now and there arent really alot of "cheap" a/c's. Anyone know of a link to cheap A/C's would be great.

Thanks all. love.

WAIT....CoolTube Is just like what you made Seedlessone! I found one for like 30 bucks...If that realy is the price for the whole thing and not just like a stupid accesory, that would be perfect....HOW DO THEY WORK??? wouldnt the hot temperature from the bulb and the cooling around the bulb from the cooltube cause the glass to break? Info about how they work is needed! This could be perfect..do they completely reduce heat, if not, how well do they work. I know many people have similar grow boxes to mine and this should be informed that if you have a compact space to buy something like cooltube!! if it works like it says.

Hey Buddy, if you got a 430 watt hps, using small and large fans together, both sucking in and blowing out, that is not going to work. the smaller fans are never going to supply enough air for the larger fans to spin freely.

You need to place all your fans on exhaust. Placed anywhere from the midpoint in the growbox, on up to the ceiling of it.
You will need an equal, or greater number of inlets placed lower in the grow box.
Your inlet holes need to be atleast 1.5 times the size of the ehaust, so as not to starve the exhaust fans.

Additionally, to cool that space, you need to be exhausting 400cfm of air to maintain a temp within 4 degrees of the ambient temp.

I am assuming you have an adequate exhaust, and will not be simply returning the hot air back into the room to be pulled into the inlets?

Thanks everyone, and the newest post from videoman. I will try to change all to exhaust and see if I get a quick temp change. I have all the air blowing into the closet and then the closet gets hotter and hotter so the inlets are cooler but they slower do get hotter as well. I believe that I need to invest in an adequate exhaust tube to run out of the closet...

I do have another question on the matter...Doesnt it seem crazy to have more than four fans (actually more if Im going to turn them all into exhaust then buy more for inlets), to get rid of heat...I mean, what is a reasonable amount of fans? what are some of your guy's configurations?

Dude, it's not about the number of fans, just the total CFM. I dont have the specifics of your fans, only you do. A typical (cheap) bathroom exhaust fan is about 75cfm, give or take a little.

Here's an easy way to look at it:

If you have four fans, and each one blows 100cfm, and you place two sucking in, and two blowing out........

You are now effectively moving 200cfm of air.

If you take those same 4 fans though, place them all on exhaust and have plenty of inlets, you are now effectively moving 400cfm of air!

This didnt cost anymore, just a different arrangement.

Peace

My personal arrangement is I have a 430 watt light too, I use a 80cfm fan for now. Heres the math:
430watts x 3.2 =1376 divided by 80cfm=17.2 degrees above ambient room temperature.
While this souds hot, it really isnt, my grow room temps are usually between 86 to 90 when the co2 is running, and down to 76 to 80 when the co2 is off. when the weather warms up, I'll add a fan.
Peace

WAit WAit WAit.... I thought by inlets you ment MORE fans...so, do you mean cut small holes 1.5 times the size of the fans to act as inlets. Then your right, if I place all the fans on exhaust and cut small holes, that would work, if thats what you ment by inlets. never thought of that.

this may sound stupid, but if I cut small holes to let air in, will the smell get out if the air is moving in through the inlet?

get your self a good negitive ion generator and somebody sitting next to you couldn't smell you smoking a joint.

Build your own for under $50 but do the research I think it's 5min on 1 hour off it will kill mold bacteria virius and odor + it makes you feel good

or spend $700 + and buy one

yes you can get too much

Dude cooltubes are the shit...you hook the one side of the tube to some duct work and then connect it to a fan. The fan then draws all the heat from your bulb and dispearses it elsewhere (outta your box).

You dont need a damn A/C for that size box either....dont waste your moeny bro.....

Im including a pic with a 400hps in a cool tube. this box is not that big and it produces a lil over a pound!!!!

what is the temp of the room the box is in.
The temp of the box will increase from a room temp.
You may need more ventilation in the room the box is in.

Seedlesson, I would really like to attain the quality of room that you have. It looks exactly like what Im tryin to go for. but cooltubes are sold with ballasts as thier own seperate fixture so you gotta pay like 200 or more for a 400w one. Also, I would make it the way you showed with the link which was awsome, but im not really shure wat any of that stuff is or if its available at home depot.

What im really not sure about is that is it safe for me to unconnect my HPS fixture system and plug it into a tube that I made??
