Spinosad is safe and kills the fuckers. Worked for me last year, had to spray every 5 or so days INSIDE the buds and outside.

And Fringe is the best.show.ever.

BT works great also especially if you already have them and is totally safe for you and your plant.
Good Luck I had the little bastards last year and it was a nightmare, we don't have those products in Costa Rica to help with.

Whats BT??

Thank god I found this thread- I have them BAD!!!
-they are killing my girls, and its breaking my heart when I go out every morning for the past week and a half, to find massive damage, with whole chuncks of flowers dead, and eaten off from the base, while they attack the spears stem itself...
This product, is it better than "safer" ?-its a pyretherin based pesticide-I have this now, but don't know if its safe to use while they are flowering like they are
now.

I prefer more natural pesticides myself. Caterpillars can do real damage and because they are so large, some pesticides will be ineffective against them. Your best bet is to inspect your plants and pick them out by hand. They tend to stay in the cracks or armpits as well as the undersides of the leaves. To make reoccurrence less of a problem you can dust your plants using diatomaceous earth.

Bt and Spinosad are both OMRI listed. Bt is Bacillus thuringiensis, a bacteria, that acts as a stomach poison to lepidoptera (moths/caterpillars), among others. The insect has to injest it, so it is only toxic to pests that eat your plant. Spinosad is another biological with action against caterpillars, mites, leafminers, or thrips.
I have had great luck with Spinosad.

Thanks!-just got the bt, and some diomatcious earth yesterday and treated with the bt.
Hoping it will work quickly for me...this is out of control-now they are killing off entire buds, not just parts:(
-thanks for the info.
