Full Moon Or Giant Fucking Light Leak

So I was outside a little bit ago having a smoke and I looked up to see the moon bright and full. I then looked at the moonlit ground and thought "wtf, this is a decent source of light in the sky, you'd think it would affect the flowering cycle of outdoor plants.". So what's the deal? Are light leaks in the grow room not that big of a deal or what? How don't outdoor plants get fucked up from the moonlight?

How come green light doesn't fuck with plants....

Light causes a chemical reaction. Obviously some lights don't cause that reaction.

I get that but this is white light reflected off the moon. Are you telling me that moonlight is not useable by plants? <--serious question, this topic melting my reality.

The rule is no light brighter than a Full Moon, but I have seen grow's that would not go into flower from timer light's and small led light's.

Good stuff man, I never even thought about this until just when I was outside and it confused the hell out of me. Thanks for the info!

Yeah, I put tin foil over all my displays...on my timers, humidifier and heater. I also stand in my room for a few minuets after the lights go out and let my eyes adjust to find other leaks.

They don't. A little light shouldn't cause your plants to hermie. People just get paranoid about their plants.

I saw a video about a reflection system Moon grow but that was the last of it, guess it didn't work out. Has anyone heard about this new 12-1 system some people are pushing? supposed to save money and give ya fatter denser bud's. I think I'll be building a new section just to try it.

Keep in mind, indoor and outdoor plants are VERY different. Light leaks are a bigger deal indoors because the plants are in a controlled environment, recieving light that just comes ON and goes OFF...no sunrise or sunset, dawn or dusk...Indoor plants may be more sensitive to environmental changes because of the fact that we attempt to keep their environment so stable...Outdoor plants are exposed to all sorts of environmental stresses all the time, and they don't have the same concept of such controlled growing conditions that indoor plants have.(as if plants could "conceive" anything...lol) Sorta like a vaccine introduces a mild virus that your body fights off easily, creating anti-bodies that make you immune to more dangerous virus', outdoor plants are sorta more "immune" to the environmental stresses, since they're always exposed to them.

Or at least that's my theory. I'm high.

I agree but it has to have the chromosone(SIC). I have had strains that you could punish and they could not herm. There's a really long history to Cannabis. Did you know that all Cannabis was originally a Hermaphrodite Plant? The first successful true male was first and bred in Turkey in like 8000BC.I have no Idea when the first Females were finally bred because the time stretch and the seed's being spread around the Globe was a long event. They find 6000 year old Mummies with sack's of seedless bud so we get an idea.Had to do some research on auxins in the plant during an experimental tissue test project i was working on to check the plant's sex by a tissue sample test. It cost me a couple of grand and it turned out it worked but would be too expensive for the average grower.

I'm starting a new grow this month and I think I might see how it goes for shits and giggles.

Full Moon on a clear night is somewhere between .27 and 1.0 lux. Overcast day is 1,000 lux. Direct sunlight is up to 130,000 lux.

Keep your light leaks below 1 lux and you're good.

I actually run 16/8 veggie 10/14 flower. The plants develop very well ESP in flower. Given the 15hrs of darkness is when she's growing and developing buds. :)

Its all a cycle of how the plant recieves light vs dark, outdoor plants see the moon regularly, although not always bright and full, the moon cycles contiue on in an uninterrupted cycle. The plant recognizes this time as there dark cycle, and dont go apeshit over a full moon because a full moon isnt out of the ordinary, the plant have accustomed there dark cycle to the moon phases gradually getting brighter, and then dark. Its all the enviroment the plants are cast into and the plants separating dark/light, even with a full moon its a lot less light than during the day and the plants know that, and separate the two. Indoor plants herm with light leaks because, people are adamant on having their rooms pitch black at night, well the plant gets used to it being completely dark during its cycle, so any small amount of light introduced during the dark cycle, disrupt the completely dark enviroment youve tried to create , and wake your plants up

Seedsman recommends dropping down to complete darkness or at least 8hrs light for the
final two weeks with their white widow.

To me it makes sense to drop the light time near the end as it would in nature too.
