Fungus gnats

If they come back and you can't seem to get rid of them.
Time to look at a dead "flier" and compare it to pics of Root Aphids and fungus gnats to be sure witch one it is.
If it's Root Aphids.....come back and ask how to kill those........Hope their not.

i did do that i found several adults most of which where regular gnats that are harmless and then the greenish/blue fungus gnat is what ive been seeing and the larvae is white with a black head. so far since i put sand down and got ladybugs i havnt seen any bugs.

I few years ago I had a big problem with gnats and larva theres two routs that I found absolutely work
1 A layer of sand in pots about 1 1/2" to 2" deep ok but too much work for me
2 Soak a mosquito donk in water for 24 hours and water with it you can add nutes or just water between feedings whatever suits you. no adverse effect on plants

i heard about the dunks but so far my lady bugs have eradicated a lot of gnats the sand has dried out the pots. and now the lady bugs are feasting on the raisins i put out so im thinking there isnt too much for them to eat now.

H2O2 29% 5ml to a gallon first application. Follow up with a 3ml to gallon a week or two later. Give them time to dry between waterings. I use Roots Organic as my base soil and it likes to kick them out especially after transplanting aero clones into soil and keeping it really wet. Fungus Gnats can be scary when you first start dealing with them and cause a whole lot of stress and problems not only to you but also your plants trying to alleviate them in a panic.

i didnt want to do too much all at once but i think my problem has fixed itself.

Neem oil. That stuff kills them extremely well. I don't know who came up with the cinnamon idea originally, but I remember it not doing a damn thing for me.

it keeps the adults from laying eggs but if you dont cover the soil completely it doesnt do much.

You know, also, I sometimes forget that a simple mix of dishsoap and water kills a lot of insects.

i did that first, 3 treatments with minor effects it got rid of a lot but not all. and it doesnt always kill the eggs.

Just get gnatrol on ebay for 5 bux and some gnat stix NOT yellow glue traps . Gnat stix is a very sticky sticker stuck to a popsicle stick planted into the soil or medium. after drenching your medium with gnatrol which kills the larva at a certain stage and the gnat stix grab any runners about to fly off. Does not get messy glue on your babies

use sticky traps. from what i believe fungus gnats are harmless to plants, and may attract lady bugs so that is a positive. Only negative is they can be annoying, but stickytraps should keep them at bay, esp yellow ones

Yo. Vacuum em. Kinda hit the pot to make em move and (use a nice extension) vac em as they fly up. Dont do it too close and suck up your medium.Lol Do it as needed. I use yellow fly traps and azomax. But the vacc worked great when they got pesky.
