Gave a buddy ride home, he leaves pill in car...

Okay, I am going to briefly state what happen.

Saturday night me and a few buddies gave a fella a ride home from a bbq. He was acting crazy in the car (not drunk, but high on something). Anyways he wants us to drop him off in the damn ghetto in my town, so we do. We leave the area and are immediately pulled over. They wanted to search the car b/c alot of drugs had come out of that area. The driver of the car allowed them to search it and they found a small pill on the ground and immediately cuff me and throw me in the police car. They interrogated my two buddies and they insisted that I would have never had anything like that in the car and that it had to of been the guy that we dropped off who had left it in the car. We didnt want to say the guys name b/c we were scared of being narks, so we didnt. Anyways, they let my friends leave and they keep me there. I could hear over the radio in the police car that they were requesting drug test kits. The kits arrive and they test it but it comes up negative for mdma/meth. They open up the door and uncuff me and tell me that They couldnt identify the chemical and that they were going to send it to the crime lab for further analysis. They let me go, but I didnt have my phone on me, so they tell me to run home...grrrr...

Anyways, do I have anything to worry about? Can they do what they said?

run home...lmfao!!! thats messed up. do you think they will take it that far for one pill?when the test kit already failed.(in your case passed)

After they realized they just wasted their time and made complete dumb asses out of them self. I'm sure they tried to intimidate you telling you to run home then they just tossed the pill.
Maybe not. Keep us informed ;)

I really hope they destroyed all the "evidence" during the testing, I know there are other forms of MDMA type compounds out there and that's whats scarey. I really have no idea how far they would take it for that 1 pill. I am calling my family lawyer tomorrow to ask him for some advice, hopefully I can get this all straightened out.

I know that during the entire thing, I never claimed that I knew it was in the car or if it even existed for that matter. I claimed that I had no idea what the item they found in the car could have been.

can i ask why in the name of hell you allowed them to search? from what i can tell from that story they had no probable cause for a warrant, and even if they were to get a warrant they would have to spell out what it is they expected to find and why they expected to find it. driving through the ghetto is not probable cause. having a two tone car is not probable cause. driving a nice car in a crap neighborhood is not probable cause. being young is not probable cause. they give people shit because they know that a certain percent of those people ARE actually criminals and will let them search, but the same can be said of any population. viva la 4th amendment.

if they really do test that pill and it comes back inconclusive or whatever i would lodge a complaint about how you were treated and how you were made to "run home" from an unsafe neighborhood. if the neighborhood is so bad as to allow them to search whoever they want, then surely it's too bad to force someone to walk home from there. fry that bacon.

you know, they had me out of the car already standing by the police car. I told my buddy not to allow them to search, but he thought there was nothing in it. He has never touched drugs in his life. As far as the complaints go, ill wait until I get some info from the lawyer and see if they can even do anything at this point.

first of all, it's not your car, and secondly it wasn't in your possession, i don't see how they can pin it on you and not one of the other two people in the car??
i think a good lawyer will get this thrown out no problem really.. it was never in your possession, and it wasn't your car, i don't see how they can pin it on you and get away with it...
i'm far from a lawyer though, but that's the way i see it.. :)

for sure man ur right if it were to go to a court it wasn't in Ur possession and there were other ppl there y did they d side to bring u in did u talk shit to them or something ?
