GC's 2016/17 outdoor season

So, I grew up in the northern Midwest US. Winter lows overnight routinely reach -35. Often less. One of the things gardeners use to extend the season there are 'hoop houses'. They are semi excavated/submerged greenhouses. It wont turn winter to summer, but getting the roots below the frostline in a warmed greenhouse adds a fair amount of extra time to the growing season. With active ventilation they stay cool well in warmer temps too.
I'll be investing in some of these when I move hey, seen them used well in many parts of Oz :)

sounds like a good idea, theres a lot to know/learn about greenhouse growing in winter, ive gotta get it dialed in cos it means 40% more production time than i can perform now just growing in spring summer and autumn, are you total indoors our outdoors as well?
I am totally indoors. I live in a very green unfriendly part of the country right now. After my contract is up, I am moving again. Until then, no outdoors for me. I know about the hoop houses from growing veggies Gardening anything is challenging in Minnesota.

everywhere here is not green friendly, some areas slightly more lenient than others but in general its still a stoneage mentality, ive never heard of the hoop greenhouses? i will google search about them, hope you move to a safer place regarding the herb man!

Sucks to here about the disease . is it passed through seeds or its in the area you live in. Make as many seeds as you can. Mold killed my big bud x white widow female. Was moving the dead plant out of the way for a greenhouse and realised the seeds on the bottom of the plant we're mature . thought they rotted away as well. Turned out I got 20 seeds off that dead female . I can use those for breeding as well.

this root rot disease here is spread in and over the ground, from what i gather its a form of pythium/botrytis/fusarium that is resistant to many forms of control, some farms not so far away are being quarrantined by the government for 30yrs! uncontrollable man!

Those plans cover lots of options, and construction techniques.
Maybe it is a Minnesota thing, but digging down a foot (about 38cm) for the box beds, and a couple feet for the center walkway, lets you build a lower hoop, with less exposure to the cold. Either way, it is a lot more inexpensive than a regular greenhouse and a similar environment.
thanks for this info! i really gotta get the greenhouse issue sorted, it will add to the overall supply well, i hate running out of herb lol

@hayrolld are you posting pics of your grow anywhere?
No, I took down all my pics and will not be posting m more until I move again. I came to the southern US for work. I found out that down here is incredibly unfriendly to green. Last year, a cop shot a high school kid who was driving around a girl suspected of dealing. They knew both were unarmed, but when the kid tried to flee they killed him! No charges filed against the officer. Lots of folks saying the kid got what he deserved. Crazy down here.

christ on a bike thats a severe attitude by the uniforms!, i dont blame you being careful there, its not that bad here but the same sickeningly retarded attitude of putting powder drugs & cannabis in the same sentence of criminality, real life crime shows here to that show live action of narcs busting backyard grows of 20 small plants or small indoor hydro setups & the fuzz prancing around proudly stating they are cleaning up the community by doing those busts, also busting people with eg 50 seedlings then the fuzz saying they have potentially taken 50lbs of dangerous drugs off the streets, hate in when they exaggerate to make the figures balloon out so it makes them look hot shit to their superiors...fucking retarded stuff ...truly makes me weep for any real hope of sanity in the powers that be

The other states I have lived in, it was not legal, but most people were basically indifferent if they were not for it. I have even had cops let myself and friends off with a warning/confiscation. It is a whole different world in the south.

I completely agree its ridiculous to have cannabis on the same schedule as harder drugs. I was impressed Canada went recreationally legal as a country. Hopefully more will follow suit.

i think it will happen eventually in more states there and here...but my god how late is it all? how much misery have strict weed laws caused worldwide? i think the worldwide weed prohibition will go down in history as one of the most absurd long running legal blunders ever made
