hi. im also looking to run an aeroflo 36, and i have 2 questions. the first one is which cycle are you using on the house and garden nutrient chart (8 week or 11), and what are your timers set to as far as feeding goes.

thanks!
-john
depending on the strain i use go either the 8 week or the 10 week. with gdp i use the 8 week feeding schedule. i mix all the nutes into the 40 gal res.

Sorry to hear about the troubles with the grow... I actually just bought 2 magnum 357 led grow lights, an aeroflo 36, and a 1/10th HP water chiller. I'm curious as to how you have the water chiller hooked up. Are you using a separate pump? Or do you just use the one in the aeroflo? Never used either before. Thanks!
the water chiller has to have a separate pump..i cant remember the gph, but your chiller should have instructions as to what kind of pump to get. get some black hose, put the pump in the res, connect the hose to the "IN" valve on the chiller..take your other black hose, and return that to the res..make sure you have water running through the chiller before you turn it on.

and as for the disaster ive created for myself...no sweat..ive already pulled a new batch of clones, and i'll be up and running again in about 2 weeks. one thing ive noticed with these LEDs is im not gonna run the full H&G nute regiment. i'll weaken it about a 1/3..these plants got pretty burnt..which is weird because ive run this strain before with the same set-up, just a 1000W HPS before..i guess when they are under LEDs they dont require the same amount of nutes...just something ive noticed.

I've been growing for a year with an older generation led light and I have also notice that the plants required less nutrients. After a lot of checking on the web it would seem that mostly everyone else has come to the same conclusion. As for the hoses on the water chiller, did you drill holes in the aeroflo rez cover?

mine came pre-drilled. youre gonna need to drill 2" holes in the res lid so the excess water can drain back into the res..you should have 6" angle cut pipes to connect to the tubes that control the water level in the tubes.

Gonna set up my aeroflo this weekend. Wondering if you have considered using 3" neoprene disks in the net pots instead of hydrotton to support the plants. I was also curious as to how you root your clones. I've heard you can root them directly in the aeroflo just by raising the water level all the way.

ive looked into the neoprene stuff, but never really tried it. hydroton can be messy so maybe i'll consider that next round. Ive never rooted in the aeroflo, but im sure its possible! that would be pretty badass.

i usually pull the clones from the mother and root them in rooting plugs in a domed cloning tray with heat pad.. once they have plenty of roots i put them in the machine with the water level barely touching the bottom of the net pot.

I'm gonna try a few with just the net pots and neoprene collars and the rest hydrotton. Hopefully all goes well. I have a deep loathing for hydrotton.

i'm running a home built aero/nft systems very similar to the aeroflow on a smaller scale. I start my clones in a homemade ez-cloner first using nothing but 2" net pots with neoprene collars. not having any kind of media prevents any ph fluctuation as long as your system is clean it stays where you set it for weeks. the biggest problem is plant support since the roots just hang in the air you need to develop some sort of system to hold the plants upright after a while. for you I would recommend building a square frame just slightly larger than the aeroflow our of 1/2" PVC so it sits about 8-12" above the top of the tubes. drill holes every 2-3" across the inside of the frame you built and thread in some eye-hooks. run string from one side to the other creating a net and scrog the shit out of those plants. that will also help you with the penetration that you lose with the LED's.

I'll give it a shot. I'm not too worried about penetration, though. The magnum 357s have that covered.
Thanks for the advice.

You should check out LEDBUDGUYS new hydro setup. He's running 12 357 magnums and 8 ISIS-FX1's over 24 purple kush in the craziest fucking hydro syetem you have ever seen!!! http://ledbudguy.com/showthread.php/49-357-magnum-led-vs.-super-lemon-haze
i havent been to that forum in a while..Im sure he has some crazy shit going on!

I had to scrap this GDP grow, but there is round 2 rocking as we speak. I just started flower last night. I learned the hard way...When you grow with LEDs in the aeroflo, the plants need about 2/3 of the recommended nute dose...not the full that they required and flourished under when I had the 1000W over them

what kind of fan do you have venting your HPS? Do you have an air cooled hood? Is the machine in a tent?? Tell me what you got going on, and maybe I can help...

This journal wont be completed btw...The original plants were scrapped..I have a new grow going, but I havent taken any pics..maybe I'll snap some in a few days and post em here so everyone can see whats going on.
