For the USB thermometer I got mine off ebay, there is also a combined hygrometer version, but only available from hongkong and china and I don't trust that personally.
I have the thermo and cam running constant and that was invaluable for finding the best settings for fan temp controller (being able to see graph data meant I could tune it to remove temp spiking) and that helps temps stay really stable (mostly only a variation of +- 1 degree max in any 12 hour period).
My next set of toys (payday!) is the usb hygro as well and usb power switching, so I can replace my analogue timer with PC control on lighting and fans.

Since this is also a bit of an impromptu grow diary and I was trying out my new phone, here are some pics of my girls (3 weeks out of the propagator, going to give them 2 more weeks before I go to 12/12) and the worlds messiest desk..

My girls moved into their last pot today, ready to move to 12/12 in the next few days as I decided to move the schedule forwards based on how they are progressing and I've got a couple of days off work to improve my cabinet.
I screwed the webcam to the front of a USB rocket launcher, which now allows me to remote control the camera, been enjoying messing around building shit today, the poor girls haven't sat still long enough to really get anything worthwhile from the timelapse but I'm more concerned with actually growing them at the moment.

This is the best I could do cutting together footage since the repotting, looking at it now I'm really pleased with the growth accelleration so soon after repotting (took about 12 hours then they started to fly)

Latest capture, I am now bringing down the day photoperiod by 1 hour per day, moving to start flowering in a few days time. Topped Al yesterday as she had deformed new growth that I wasn't impressed with the look of.

i think all of these automated systems are just silly. it's just taking your attention away from actually growing the things yourself.
heck, if your a depressive soul with a credit card, just hire yourself a mexican to do it all for you, how much more automated can you get? and then you have a really genuine reason for having cameras recording the grow
good to know u don't waste an oppurtunity at making unecsssary racist statements... JUST SILLLY in my opinion

did a little research. I use a mac myself and was looking for a way to do something similar. http://www.leopardtricks.com/leopar...te-activated-motion-sensitive-security-camera is a sweet little instruction setup. I have my webcam setup to record if motion is detected on my door. I even set it up to email me a photo of whoever comes in. Its well worth it if you have a mac. I am sure that there are PC equivalents though.
