Generic Grove bags

I learned this after I bought a bunch of real Grove bags. But Grove bags are nothing more than generic mylar bags. Available all over the Internet, in a variety of sizes. Resealable and oxygen free just like Groves.

They're sold as mylar odor free bags. The Grove folks simply had they name, logo and design printed on them. Google "mylar bags". They're also called mylar dispensary bags.

I would suggest that you are incorrect, and others will chime in and agree shortly.

It’s more than likely a proprietary difference - Grove Bags are made from high barrier films with very specific gas and water vapour permeability properties. All unwanted gases and water vapour are diffused through the film producing the ideal environment to preserve your flower.

Their TerpLoc® protects flower like no other material, even those designed for ‘product preservation’, like Mylar (otherwise known as BoPET, or biaxially-oriented polyethylene terephthalate).

Sounds like the grove bags have different properties over mylar.

My friend uses these bags (Grove 58-62% humidity) and it complete ruins his weed everytime lol

He grows some amazing looking plants/buds....then he dries trims and puts them in these bags....months later pulls out the bag containing the worst mids I've smoked in modern age cannabis lol

I don't understand how ppl swear by these things because I've seen them turn amazing weed into absolute shit on several occasions

I wonder what the moisture content of the buds and stems are.

They recommend 10-12% humidity.

Not sure; I'll have to ask him; I'm sure he will know.

Personally for my grows I do the Jar burping and even remove buds from jars for as long as I can during the day then Jar up overnight and repeat until the overnight Jar keeps a level moisture level....it ends up being a perfect cure everytime; but I don't measure levels of anything during my grows lol

But I understand not wanting to do that cure process for lbs of weed (which is why my friend uses grove bags) as I only harvest a few ozs at a time

Here's some recent weed I dried, and is now stored in a Grove. Smokes nice, RH is right where it's supposed to be. What's not to like?
Idk what my friend is doing wrong but if he stores it even for a month to cure; it turns his weed into overdried trash....he heat seals it and everything.

Is his drying process either not drying enough or over drying before going into the bags possibly?

I use the grove bags myself and have had very good luck with them so far.

IMO your friend is over drying his bud before it even goes into the bag... I let my buds dry over the course of minimum a week in my tent at a steady 60RH

Then I transfer it into a grove bag with a hygrometer, I don't heat seal it and I don't fill it to the top to allow me to burp the bag should the RH go above 60/62%

I also lay the bag on its side instead of upright and make sure to keep the buds as spaced out as possible to prevent issues such as mould etc

From there they stay in the grove bags until they're consumed and it has worked flawlessly for me, taste just improves over time as long as u followed the appropriate steps and didn't over dry or under dry your bud
