So can you like

Take plant A male

Pollinate it to plant b female.

Plant a and b are different strains.

Can you do that to make and new plant then breed that plant with another plant to make a new one?

um yea this is how you would cross breed plants of diff strains cmon man basic bio here. Just remember both plants have to be mj plants, you cant go around crossbreeding your tomatoes and kiwis with your skunk 1

Come on man. Educate yourself a little. This is a real simple concept of bisexual reproduction that should be understood by the general population for the US in this 21st Century. If you really care, read up on the Cell Cycle in any basic, High School level Biology book you could prolly find at a Library. If you could understand that, check out some Mendelian Genetic theories for entry level bio college students found right by that High School bio book at the library. If you really want to understand crossing over, look into graduate level Population Genetics literature. These same concepts and rules stand true for this, really pretty simple, plant.

If you want to REALLY get into the nitty gritty of Marijuana cultivation, check out some biology and even biochemistry journals. You'll some real cool shit that some people w/degrees are doing there. There's a bunch of new shit about crosses of Indica and Sativa strains with varying amounts of different cannabinoids and how that affects biological pathways. There's also a bunch of crazy shit about extracting that real potent cocktail of the drugs from the plant to administer as pills or just to cook with.

You can for sure make a new strain. But it wont be stable. You have to look at it liek people. You and your brother or sister are different right? Everytime parents make a kid for the most part its different. Fortunatly for plants there is no such thing as incest. We simply call it back crossing! If you want a stable plant. pollinate one, grow all the seeds out, pollinate the strongest mother and father. Grow out their seeds and breed the strongest male and female. Eventually down the line 6-8 generations all of the offspring will have the same properties as the parents. As THRASHDOG stated if you didnt learn it in high school you should go back and ask to borrow a book. Look up Gregor mendel...The father of genetics. this is the man who discovered the art of breeding for selection. Might as well call it eugenics, or genetic supremecy.

that was a great post stickee.. lots of knowledge.. yah, mendor is where it all began really.. i stilll remember doing his lil charts back in highschool.. with dominant and regressive traits and all that fun stuff.. like stickee said, that doesn't just apply to humans, but pretty much all of life.. i was a science geek back in the day as well.. glad i was now though..
oh well, just wanted to say nice post stickee..

Dont forget about RA Fisher and Darwin... But yeah... If your into that stuff stick your nose into the web for a bit...

I started with Ed Rosenthals Marijuana Growers Handbook... theres a chapter in there on breeding
