Germination question (pic)

Okay so I took some random bag seeds and put them into a shot glass, once I noticed they have split I moved them from the glass to a wet paper towel inside of a baggie. I then placed the baggie under a coffee cup to block light and keep it warm, this is the end result. Is this able to be planted right now or should that root get a little longer?

I've read so many different things "The tap root should be 1/4'' long" or "As soon as it cracks open it should be transplanted"

This is the first step that is holding me back and would like a little more clarification. I've done a lot of reading but a few of my questions are still unanswered

I wait til the root is 1/2 inch but you can start seeds directly in soil the only reason to start in a towel is to tell how many plants your gona successfully have b4 planting.

I drop it back in water till it gets out a bit more, I like mine to stick out from 1/4" to 3/8" out from seed to plant in rapid rooters. Should take off in 5-7 days.

Wow! An overwhelming amount of responses, thank you guys very much for your input! I have Lowryder Autoflower that I am going to try along with some Moby Dick (lol?) and Pineapple Express and just wanted to make sure I'm not just throwing my seeds to the wind while trying to get this op started.

Once again thank you all so very much for the input, it means a lot. I'll probably start a little log for my first time :)

And yes sir I do, I'm doing a closet grow. I'll start up a thread tomorrow afternoon once I get off work, I want to do a first time grow log... successful or not. Either way I'm willing to grow and learn with criticism from community members!
