Germination/Seedling Help

Hi everyone,

This is my first post and first grow. I'm currently using bag seed (Lemon Poundcake). I've been experimenting with these until my seeds come in from seedsman.com. If this turns out great I'm going to just keep rolling with it. I'm trying to figure out if I need to give this seedling light yet or do I wait for the actual leaves to come out. From what I'm reading it is ok to give it light as soon as it emerges from the growing medium. I posted 2 pics with the dates in the title. It looks like it is progressing fine to me, but just wanted to make sure.

I'm using coco w/ perlite and ph water of about 5.5+. Have not started feeding it nutrients yet as they say it is not good to start for a few weeks.

Good on the no nutes yet, she looks like she may need some help with her hull. If you don't get it off, she will rot. Easy lighting right now, what kind of light(s) is she under? How far away?

If you don't remove the seed shell and membrane, it probably won't make it.
Mist it with water to soften the membrane and gently remove it with a toothpick or tweezers.
You're not in soil........your plants will need food way before three weeks.
I start feeding weak nutes at around 3 days from sprout.........then every day after that.

Thanks for the reply. I misted it and removed the shell and membrane, but it looks kinda.... mehh now lol. I may have failed on this one already. I started germinating another seed last night just in case (I have about 20+ of these bag seeds)

Ah, good point on not being in soil. I'll try to add light nutrients for the seed I have germinating right now once it sprouts. Unless you think I can save this one...

Am I right for adding light as soon as it starts coming out of the medium?

Light should be available as soon as it sprouts.
Hmm, I'm using coco+perlite. Would you still suggest this? I have potting soil but I haven't looked into adding that into the coco mix
No reason to add any coco at this point........that is done when the sprout is stretched and needs support.
Do not mix soil with coco.

That's a decent light, I'd say 28-30 inches away is fine for now. She is at her most fragile right now so baby her.
