Howdy all green growers of the world.
As the title says. I am having trouble germinating my seeds.
I bought 2 bags from every one does it last september 07 did one grow and all was good.
now trying to germinate the others and no joy. I soak a paper towel and let it drip for 10 secs then leave them wrapped up for 12 hours before putting them in the soil as I did the last time. I live in a very humid climate but i stored them in an air tight jar.
My question is are the seeds too old?
any tips would be great.
thanks from Afro the sweating clown.

They shouldn't be too old dude, try leaving em in the paper towel, ensure its always kept wet and that they are covered (kept in dark) and kept warm, leave em like for several days, anytime between 3 and 9 days, as soon as you see the tap root appear then you can plant into your grow medium.

i tried the paper towel method and it dosent do shit for me so i soak my seeds for 48hrs then plant them.also i've heard of people putting some sand paper in a match box then put the seeds in and shake.it thins the seed casing so it splits and takes water better.

i think you should leave the seed in the damp paper towel until you can see like a quarter inch white root peeping out then plant it. the mineral water in a cup is a good idea to, PRO - TIP: do not move the seed till you can see a white root quarter inch peeping out, then SOIL! good luck!!

paper towels rarely if ever work for me
I use the peet pelets -- hme depot ahs em usually with a humidity dome -- never had an issue

ill never not use a peet pelet again, papertowels i suck at.
