hey quick question in germination. I bought 5 kush seeds and 20 white widow seeds. I decided to put them in a glass of water to germinate them as this is what I did last spring with good results. Out of the 20 white widow 15 cracked and four of the kush. From there I planted the 15 cracked open seeds( tap root facing down) into peat pellets and put them under a dome to do their thing. One week later one of the kush seeds has sprouted and is about 3" tall as for the others they are still doing nothing. I couldn't resist digging one or two up carefully and checking what's going on, and they look exactly like the day I planted them. Any suggestions on why only one of fifteen is doing anything? Thanks

We're in glass of water five days I would say, just until seed cracked and I could see the wite of the root, then directly into the Pete pellets. You think it's possible I have the peat pellets too wet?

Yes you want to squeeze the extra water out, after you soak them. They look way too wet.

Just squeezed them... They were like a wet sponge ffs. Is there a good chance they are all fucked?... Really hoping this wasn't a really expensive learning experience.

More than likely fucked...sorry bud. I would wait and see, takes too long to order and receive new seeds. Or order more now and still wait and see what happens.

Maybe let the pellets dry some and add a few drops of water, then dry, then few drops. A continuous cycle that happens maybe a few times a day.

Yea that's what I'll do, keep water to minimal, the one I dug up didn't look rotten or anything so we'll see. Did the exactly the same thing last year with no issues, musta been extra soaked this year. Does a cracked seed typically take less than a week to sprout planted in a peat pellet? And maybe I'll do papper towl in the zippy for next start

so same results planting them in straight in the peat pellets or growing medium? May try that on half of my next attempt

I just started 6 plants in soil last Saturday night and 3 were out of the ground on Monday and the others when i woke up on Tuesday. For me I've never had an issue doing it this way so i will continue.

I would say you drowned those seeds... Just put em soil keep em at room temp... They should emerge within 5 days..
I've tried and perfected most of the popular methods.. This works and it's easy... Natures way...

As in moist potting soil in small pot or keg cup? Any tips/ suggestions would be greatly appricated, it does sound like a lot less fucking around

You should try and germinate under good lighting (20W spiral CFL maybe 2 inch max away). You will notice that instead of sprouting 2 inches before getting leaves, they will have those same leaves at maybe 1 inch, and a much stronger root system. This setup naturally drains, yet retains moisture and can breathe nicely.

Never dig around the seed to see if it germinated, just leave it, it should come out in a week or less. Then still don't touch the plant for a week, you just need to look at new seedlings hard enough to kill them.

Also, have your fan blowing for strong stems.

I plant my seeds in toilet paper rolls filled with verm and coco, easy to transfer into soil and just cut the roll off or while small, you can just pull it straight off over the top.

Outdoors, make a hole up to your second knuckle, insert seed, and stamp it nice and tight so it doesn't sit in a pocket.

yea I know I shouldn't dig around but curiosity got the best of me, right now my fluorescent light is about a foot away and there's a dome between also, maybe I will move lights much closer and see if anything happens, if not looks like I'm starting from scratch, problem was peat pellets were compleatly saturated, can't beleive how much water those things hold! Also there was a lot of water in bottom of try which I assume was wicking up into the peat pod to make matters worse

Throw those pete pellets away... They hold too much water... one of the harder ways to germinate.. moist not wet...
