before i spend alot of money on this i got a few questions.

1. im lookin for a non nuted organic soil thats not gonna cost alot...

2. i hear ppl talkin bad about ph testing papers...how bad are they? as long as their close enough in accuracy and get the job done ill buy them over some $90 tester.

3. know anywhere to get cheap carbon filters?

4. how many plants can i grow under a 600w hps? im more lookin for an average yield w/ a common strain.

5. should i buy some pest control products before i get pests? its an indoor closet grow. i dont know how easy it would be to get pests in there and im tryin to avoid unnessasary costs.

thanx:smile:

1. Miracle Gro Organic shouldn't be too hard to find. There are some nutrients in it, but not much at all. You will need to mix it with 30% perlite to assist drainage.

2. A PH control kit goes for around $15(test strips, plust pH Up and pH Down). For a little more than that you can get a digital tester on ebay.

3. There are do-it-yourself filters on this site, you just have to search for them, however, since you'll be using a 600W HPS, you'll need a good inline fan for exhaust. That bulb gets hot. A good fan will run you anywhere from $50-$200, depends on how much suction you need for your space. Since you need a fan, you might as well get a filter too, which run around $50. I paid about $180 for my fan/filter. My tent isn't that big, so I only needed a 178CFM fan.

4. Depends on your space. You should be able to get an ounce per plant at the least, more is possible as your skills improve.

5. Pest prevention never hurts. You can start by using those cheap pest strips. Sort of like fly paper. I get mine at the dollar store. Hold off on any pesticides until you actually have a problem.
