Getting smell out of A/C vents?

I have a small closet grow (9-10 plants), but I seal off the entire room and dedicate it to the grow. The windows and door have bed sheets hung over them to seal in all light and smell traces. However I have a newer A/C system that has an intake and exhaust vent in every room. The intake from the grow room is sucking up the smell and distributing it throughout the other vents in the house. Sometimes I can smell it coming off the A/C unit in the garage as well which concerns me the most.

I tried buying a carbon filter with an inline fan, but took it out because the inline fan was too noisy. I also tried using a higher micron filter in the A/C intake, this one to be exact:

Filtrete Filter

That filter states it removes particles that contain odor, but it definitely does not. Other than closing off the vent, is there anything else I can try? Is there a better A/C system filter that I can use for removing odors?

LOL, the sound is not an option for me. It will get me detected by family members and other guests.
