gh ph drops possibly reading wrong when adding h2o2?

I am using 3% h2o2 doesn't say stabilized.

Well I decided for kicks to test ph of the h2o2 alone. I got a ph reading of 4 or below (red/pink) but isn't h2o2 alkali so it should have read above 8. Is the reading correct or is there a chemical reaction causing it to read incorrectly?

Also the kit I have has colors for 4 or below, 5 orange, 6 yellow, 6.5, 7, 8 or above. So should I be setting my rez to yellow with a hint of orange or a nice orange or pure yellow? I wish it were more accurate but don't have the $ to buy digi reader

Its dwc with top feed and medium is rr knockoffs (hydroheart brand)

I would only test in dilution. Even 3% could destroy the testing ability of drops and dip sticks.
The PH of any individual item does not mean anything. It is the readings when everything is mixed, then you test and adjust.
Water changes things, added nutes changes things, along with added H2O2.

You always test PH last when everything is mixed...IMHO...

you want the color to be yellow,you can get a decent meter for under 50 dollars delivered to your door.I started with the drops and it became a chore to check my ph because I had a bunch of 5 gal. buckets that were not hooked up to a res and it would take me about 45 minutes,I have learned from my mistakes and still learn new stuff all the time and the most important thing I have learned is to try not to skimp on critical items when you do save up enough cash for a meter dont forget to get calibration solution to because even though they say factory calibrated dont take for granted that it is check it before you use it.good luck to you and start saving your cash up

Cool thanks for the replies. I figured it was a chemical destruction. My plants are doing wonderfully just keep getting res ph of 7. I'm running 1/4 str technaflora recipe flowering and doing about 10-15ml of h2o2 per gal. Should this be about right? My res is about 3gal in a supercloset minifile. I'm running 6 plants just under 2' final height with lst. They are just over a week into flower right now. Btw this is my second grow but first hydro.
