Gnats?

I am on my 18th day of flowering and all of a sudden there are little bugs.... look like gnats. Was never a problem I had noticed before this and they are just down around the soil. They don't seem to be going near the plants at all but this is my first grow and want to know what to use to get rid of them. I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

you can use those hot shot pest strips available at places like home depot and the like for under $10 or so..

they usually come from the soil being too damp, allow the soil to dry out a bit more between waterings and it should help as well as the hot shot strips..

some beneficial bacteria will do the trick, do you have any? check the label for BTi, bacterial thurengiensis. mosquito dunks at the market also has this in it. i crushed an infestation with few applications of tarantula mixed with great white myco. and my infestation was getting real bad.

perlite layer on top of your soil. The fungus gnats don't like crawling on it.
they might be by your drain holes also.
I layer my pots. encapsulate the soil with a bottom layer of perlite, and a top layer of perlite. any bug has to crawl through it to get to the soil.

You better hope they're not root aphids. Those suck! They look like gnats but aren't.

So How can I tell the difference between gnats and root aphids?
Root aphids haul ass, and are larger...gnats are slower/lazy fliers.

I've had both, and knocked them out with a soil drench containing permethrin...and some fly traps.
