Anne McLellan, leader of the federal task force on how to legalize pot, says it’s critical that Canada “go slow” on reforming marijuana laws.

She said the question of whether to have separate recreational and medical marijuana regimes is “one of toughest issues.” She said the task force will have a recommendation for the government but “we haven’t come to ground on it” yet.

And all levels of government must be closely work together — with some experts recommending a national co-ordinating agency that would act as “an early warning system” for developments that will require the system to change, she said.

“There has to be a high degree of collaboration and co-ordination and I can tell you the task force will talk about that as a general principle.”

Lots more in the article, good news is at least they declared those opposed to legalization to be a 'distinct minority'.

Keep the programs seperate. Any Rec plant counts wont do fuck all for me. Neither will the higher retail prices or taxes. No reason for it. As for how to know whos sick or not, get a Dr. to sign, I guess youd be medical

Plant counts are the only issue, imo. I don't pay retail or taxes on my home grown meds. I also don't need a doctor to determine my medical condition exists and that I get relief from cannabis. My mmar pinks from 2014 that continue to be legal despite no requirement to consult a doctor or HC are proof positive that I have the ability to treat myself. I think the future of mmj separate from rec will be very limited.
