Going from HPS to LED. Worth it?

I flower with Excited Plasma.. I use $40 GE full spectrum LED for veg. *edit and a bunch of $10 clip fans. They are my grows biggest fans :bigjoint:

It's your money, lol.
Never plan on buying another pre-built light. Not gonna knock a light I never used this. Especially since Chunky Knows his shit.
But he's kind of right, a fan has the ability to fail. I don't know the thermal protection of such a unit under fan failure?, but I would personally prefer something that is designed to be passively cooled. That way you require multiple other failures to really be in the shit.
This is true. Passive cooling has its own related costs though, but insurance against failure is a big plus.

One thing I've noticed in California.. My joints don't have resin anymore. Not that I liked getting resin on my lips but I did enjoy the strength it lent to the smoke. Since California has been shifting to LED's over the past few years ... I just noticed the other day that none of my spliffs have resin anymore. Could be the LED.
AFAIK resin and THC production has t do with a response to UV light, IIRC. If the panels don't have any UV or anything close to blue that could cause issues. There's a ton of research out there that I just don't recall at the moment. This is why sun is best.

I wonder if there is a way to use a lens to create a solar bulb from the ceiling of a grow room. Some real exotic pink floyd shit

How much you pay for LEP rig?
$599 and I love it. The light doesn't emit much heat downward; but the entire space above gets a little warm. My colas can touch the glass no worry. When it turns on / heats up it cycles through different spectrums until it legit looks like the sun. I absolutely love it and the results are dank.

I don't think the less heat is universally wanted, im already toiling to keep under the canopy above 21/22c, to gain control over rh you need heat and almost constant fresh air.

Of course - I am in a very small space so I like that my plants can utilize that extra room :eyesmoke:

I'll have to keep that in mind. I'm restarting again after being in an accident, losing a grow, etc. I've got peeps that want what I used to grow, and I used to use the cash for equipment and nutes.

I run dual 250w HIDs (500 actual watts) and I'm on my way to pulling a pound of one plant.

I have no idea what 500 actual watts of LED will do for one plant but I'm so fucking curious. If I manage to win the latest contest, I think I'll buy whatever I need to make up the difference in actual watts and run a grow to see the difference for myself.

Just remember that coverage is different, as well as recommended height etc. If you can, run a separate room with clones so you can figure it out.

My joints get a gross amount of resin and I grow under leds. Pretty sure most of the commercial grows still use DE, hard to beat the cost.

So it's not the change in farming? Why does my OG not have resin like it used to. I even went a bought an overly taxed 1/8 from a licensed store to see if they had resin and none..

Most of the dispensary weed here is shit, idk how it is in California. If you have good quality leds you don't have to worry about your weed not being frosty and stickying up joints.

If you go to the right shops and get the right products there is plenty of resin. California has no shortage of amazing bud you just have to know where to look. It’s definitely not because of LED.

You said you flower with “excited plasma”. What is that? Never heard of it.

Also a $40 GE led isn’t going to veg all that well. For seeds and clones that’s fine but not for vegging. If you want to have comparable results with HID you need to be willing to fork out the money for quality LED’s.

LEP is the new thing. If the costs come down it could truly compete with LED.

My veggie room would beg to differ - I didn't say I was using only one :eyesmoke:

* edit - also I move my canna veggies in an out of the cali sunshine when it permits. I'm small not commercial. I also grow exotic berries, mammoth sunflowers and giant pumpkins I didn't start off with cannabis. And you are correct there is amazing bud here but I want the resin again
