Going from top feed rockwool to flood & drain

So I'm gonna change my set up from top feed to flood n drain. Is there anything different i should know about. Will be using 6" hugos on top of coco mats, currently using 40 gal rez with a pump recirculating the water. Do i need airstones? I have some but never have used because the pump seemed to do ok? Any pointers would be appreciated

Not a bad idea to keep an air stone in the res to make sure the water has lots of air.

how many times per day do you plan to flood and for how long?

Ya i figured as much, top feed was providing plenty of air, the pump was just to keep water from getting funky not moving,

I figure i'll water 1x a day for first week or so or until roots pop out then maybe switch to 2x idk though. Rockwool holds water like mofo so i proly just c how they respond. New style and clones so time will tell!!

If using rockwool you will only need too flood once every 2 or 3 days at first untill you get a real good root system.
