Golden Opportunity or Pipe Dream?

A small creek (3 to 4 meters across now) about two km behind my house, and still on my priv prop, has eroded through a constriction downstream leaving about 2.5 acres of east west land 40 meters by 250 meters, about a meter above the May 1st and 1.5 meters above the August creek level. Trees to the North and South are from 2 to 5 meters tall so sun is an all day thing. It used to be the bottom of a small lake (or big pond) about 2 meters deep in August, 4 in May. Happened two years ago and now grass and a few weeds are growing all over it.The soil is sandy with lots of small pebbles and about 30 to 40% black material spread evenly and present as far down as I dug...a meter to hit water. Soil was moist at the top even on a 35 degree August day. Soil PH is 5.5 (creek runs through conifer forest) but that is an easy fix. Water is PH 6.3 in August. Digging is as easy as feeding my dog, once you slash the sod and remove it. Anyone with experience in such an environment? I got the soil-neutralizing" part down but anything else you might suggest as I am usually a "Hole filled with MEGA-SOIL compost" kinda guy. There will never be a need to water except to add ferts every two weeks or do I just add time release? If so how much time release per hole? Planting and leaving until Sept 15 is a good incentive. Thanks for any and all pertinent comments.

I would dig wide shallow holes, using mostly manure composts in your soil mix with some time release too. You can over do it on the time release. I've used too much before, and you could taste it in the buds. Maybe 1/4 to 1/2 cup along with maybe 5 gallons of soil mix in a 10 gallon hole. You can add that much every 2 months or so.

Remember to plant on the south side of bigger trees and bushes. And go easy on the trails.

Your spot sounds excellent. I have been scouting for new locations for a couple weeks with little luck.

Sounds like a good spot. Just remember, if you live in a illegal state, the feds can seize your property if they find your plants.

Thanks, I live in Canada so my legal "4" plants will not be a problem. They were gonna restrict height of the 4 [plants to just over a meter tall. Luckily it was deemed silly and tossed out.
