Hi all, I just got certified over at canna care and since dispensaries probably won't be open for a while I'm gonna be putting together my own grow set-up.

does anyone have a good recommendation for a good grow store in the area? I'm pretty hesitant about going and ordering stuff online for this

thanks :weed:

Hey man,

I actually just moved to the area and was in the same situation. I went to a couple different places: Boston Gardener over in Roxbury and after a bad experience there I tried Liquid Sun in Wilmington and then GYO over in cambridge near davis square. Definitely would not recommend Boston Gardener, the store is really sketchy and a lot of their stuff is overpriced. The guys at Liquid Sun were alright, though there wasn't much of a selection and they kept trying to convince me to use Canna nutes. I ended up getting my stuff from GYO because they have these package deals on lights and tent setups and they had a lot of different options, plus they gave me some samples and a t-shirt!

definitely recommend checking them out, and good luck with your grow man!

near Boston is relative, may want to be more descriptive

I know you are hesitant to buy online, but why? That is really what you should be doing for a lot of it. Get your self a Amazon bar-code scanner app hit up a hydro store and compare prices, I bet you Amazon is cheaper. Just will have to wait for it. But before you do that I would set a max budget and then spend at least 20 hours researching before I purchased a single thing. I wasted money by not researching enough for my first grow, and I researched what I thought was a lot. Good thing is the margin between growing and buying is large that even by making mistakes I will be recouping all it on my 2nd harvest.

A grow supply/hydro store opened up near my house recently and My dad told me he saw a cop pull over someone coming out of the store. Careful going to those if you don't want to have a run in with the cops. I personally think hydro stores are very expensive compared to shopping online.

youll pay more at the store but you walk out with your stuff in hand i hate waiting i guess it depends if the saving worth the wait

I prefer buying from a store itself versus ebay or amazon. You can still order online from most stores getting rid of the sales tax. You can also talk to the employees about products and methods. I've been back to GYOstuff a few times now and every time I head over there I learn something new. They get to talk to the company reps and manufacturers directly with access to a lot more information about the products than you could get from googling it or asking people in forums. From my experience they know just about everything there is to know and can help with any problems. I don't mind spending a few extra dollars for guaranteed quality and great customer service. But hey, you can sit at your computer check out a bunch of shit on the internet, hear 80 different opinions from random people who may or may not have any idea what they are actually doing. OR you can take a little of your precious time, go to a store, have all your questions answered immediately and pick up whatever you need at the same time. I'll take the definite any day. But that's just me.

depends on where in boston area you are. Just north of the city in medford is ROOTDOWN hydroponics. Sabrina the owner is very knowledgeable and help you out. Be careful in any grow shop you choose they still follow federal law for most part and are not so open to talking about cannabis in their shops.

I've been to Rootdown before, seemed like it was kind of a copy of other stores in the area tbh. Plus the prices there were a little high compared to some of the other stores.

I checked Rootdown out as well, seems to be a little lacking. Small area not a great selection. I'm talking smaaaaaaaaaall. Plus the hours aren't ideal and they don't even open on sunday. Not really worth the time to go over there. But to each his own I guess.

I like htg. Much better prices than the boston stores and huge selection. Awesome return policy and customer service too. I had a buld blow and I faxed the receipt to PA and they sent me a new one with a prepaid shipping label to send the old one back. I don't look to talk to employees in stores so that isn't important to me. I know what I want, I go and I buy it.
By the way, just about everything, everywhere is made in china. Jardin, hydrohut, gorilla tents, sunleaves systems, hydrofarm systems, all china ,china, china.

Grow your own in Cambridge. gyostuff.com Great prices!
You've got to be kidding right? Let me guess, you own the place or work there. GYO stuff has some of the worst prices I've ever seen. You're paying top dollar there, however they will price match some items and they are close to boston.

No I have never worked there, definitely do not own a grow store ( although that would be cool). I just know there are some deals to be had in there, location and there price is good for what it is and they will price match. So if you know what your looking for it can usually be had for what it's worth, I personally never feel like I overpaid.

I visited HTG in Shrewsbury. Lots of stuff to look at, average prices. The two guys I spoke to were polite, the woman was a bit of an ass. I liked their Agromax tents and it was nice to see one "in person" instead of reading about it.

Ya, that lady is a bad trip. No clue how or why she's working there. I avoid her/don't talk to her, since she has the undertones of not being on board with the movement.
