Less snow means less buffer. The ground gets dry and doesn't hold water as well, allowing rains to run off instead of soaking in. It's a bad cycle that portends poorly for the future.

Global warming and other events of shortsighted human activity is going to be the end of us if we don't chain the corporatocracy and put it on a short leash.
Yea that's exactly right.. When we started getting less snow that's when it started getting dry a lot... The snow is what keeps the ground saturated and plentiful of water... And like u said when it rains it just runs off.. Which causes flash floods..except for 85 when we had a horrible flood here.. It has never flooded as bad as it did a few hrs back... Huge houses and a huge trailer park with a camping area that was beside a big river near by was washed away.. In talking a few multi million dollar establishments went also.. Private owned ones... Which isnt common here... Cars and ppl were washed down the river... Iv noticed this a lot... Some of the rivers.. Especially the small creeks have redirected the way they go... Like up above my house we have the main creek and a creek bed that only ever had water in it when it floods... And now the flood area is the main creek... And all the old fishing holes that have been around foe 100s of years washed out or like where logs that made waterfalls had been for 80 years washed out.. Its because the water go so low abd dried up underneath the logs.. Or the rivers got low and caused rocks to shift and destroyed the fishing holes... That's scary.. Ppl still say.. Oh its just an Indian summer or winter wtfe or this happens ever so often... Maybe every so many 1000s of years..we actually had the main river here completely.. Somehow redirect into a flood run off for about 600 yards... Shit bothers me something fierce
