ok what you have to do is take a regular plug from a a power strip or something that has a pretty thick wire 14 gauge wire is best for 120.. take the black wire from the power cord an wire it to the black wire on the ballast.. then off the ballast its saying there is a red wire you want to wire that to the light fixture.. more then likely your light fixture will have a white and a black wire.. take the red wire from the ballast and wire it to the black wire on your light. now take all your white wires and wire them together to the white wire on your power cord..

if your light fixture doesnt have a white or black wire then it doesnt matter what wire you tie the red one to just take the other wire thats not tied to the red and wire it to the white ones..

Is that ballast FOR that bulb?

yes the ballast is a form of transformer and energizes the the bulb.
I understand the use of the ballast and how they work (been an electrician for 30 years) but my question was: is that ballast made for that bulb? Ballasts are bulb specific. You can't use any old ballast with any bulb.

it goes black from plug to black on ballast (if its black).
then red from ballast to black on light( if the light has black and white wires, if not then pick a wire and make the left over a white, "neutral").
take all white wires and tie them into the white on plug and plug in

and gohydro.. if im not correct i did give correct info for wiring right?

Yeah...I didn't mean to step on your feet. I keep seeing people talk about switching bulbs from MH to HPS and expecting an old magnetic ballast to do the job rather than spending the bucks on an electronic (digital) ballast that is good for both bulbs. The fact of the matter is that an old magnetic ballast made for MH will not work properly on HPS.
