Good time to top?

Hey my fellow growees was this a good time to top I got some bodhi beans from this girl who got them in person from a reliable source but she told me they were feminised but looking at all the packs mainly reg I'm thinking there not anyways I only have a little amount and hoping these are female so I don't want to stress them or train to early hoping it was the perfect time to top them and if I get one of them male I suppose if I like the traits I can make some more quality beans and feminise my own at a later time
I have 5 more moontAng seeds 4 more bingo pajama and one secret chief and one pineapple og but the pineapple is from a diff bank I believe I'm hoping for the best so I can have a mother of each

I was also lucky enough to get some free clones off a beautiful unknown bodhi mother but whatever it is the stock is a true purple so genetics are some purple strain of there's rubbing fingers on the stem even as a clone gives a favorable scent of dank

Personally man, i wait until i see pre flowers to confirm boy/girl and if its a girl what i top i dip in root powder and take some lower node clones at the same time. By the pics you uploaded id wait to top regardless, especially that secret chief. but the pajama, and moon tang just need 2 or 3 more nodes in my opinion. do you have height restrictions?

Well I hope I didn't fuck them up I topped :/ I have topped plants this small before hope I don't stress them to much and not really gonna run in a 5x5 tent plenty tall enough but I prefer short and bushy rather than let them xmas tree out

Love beans, hate 8 weeks guessing..
Yes that is the part that sux, but you can take a cut off the top when they get about 6 inchs tall and put that cut in a cup of water and put into 12/12 to show sex, takes alot of time off.

You should be alright. i usually wait so i dont stress them. Early topping can encourage reg beans to lean towards male. Health wise they should be fine.

That's ridiculous. The sex is already determined. What early topping can do is delay sexing so if you top too early you'll have to wait an extra few weeks to show.

It all depends when you should top, best thing you can do is experiment with your strains, and find out yourself...I have had strains that I dont top at all, and they produce very large single colas...but on the other hand I have ran strains that yield heavy with the martini glass shaped pruning. Ever strain is different, and best experince is doing.

Same topic diff plant. I grew korean green peppers outside and they were doing great. 24 hours later I go outside and a giant catapillar ate literally 3/4 of the plant. I thought it was done. I kept watering and about three weeks later she was huge. I'm not sure that topping to early can really effect the plant. In the wild, animals will eat a plant and as long as there are leaves for photosynthesis they will alot of the times grow bigger. @Chef420 I do agree with ya breh. Not sure about the sex being predetermined cause I'm no expert, but sounds pretty sound.

Stress on a plant can increase the chances of herms. It may be optimistic for me to assume the sex will change entirely but, ridiculous, I have to disagree. You are right, plant sex is pre determined, but early stress from topping can increase unpleasant sexing side effects,so to speak. And yes early topping will also delay sexing, another reason I suggested he wait, since he said he didn't have much time. Good vibes your way

Edit- here's some info on reversals published by Ed Rosenthal off a grass city members post for anyone interested in environmental/stress related effects

"ntersexes and Reversals Much more common than abnormally formed flowers is for the plant's sex to be confused. One may find an isolated male flower or two; or there may be many clusters of male flowers on an otherwise female plant, or vice versa. These plants are called intersexes (also hermaphrodites or monoecious plants). Intersexes due to environment causes differ from natural hermaphrodite in having random distributions and proportions of male and female flowers. In more extreme cases, a plant may completely reverse sex. For example, a female may flowers normally for several weeks, then put forth new, sparse growth, typical of the male, on which male flowers develop. The complete reversal from male flowering to female flowering also happens."

Can post link if anyone needs/wants the rest.

I like to wait until my plants are at least a healthy 16-18inches tall in veg before I try out advanced techniques like super cropping, pinching, topping, bending, pruning, etc...they seem to recover faster at those heights for me.
