Get rid of all the tiny shit underneath the plant, and be easy on the leaves on the canopy.
Alot of people wll say not to trim the bigger fan leaves..
But IMHO, I prefer to remove any leaf blocking a potential bud site.

Something like that. Spring loaded and nice and sharp. Springs help a fair bit, especially when you have a fair bit to do.

you can buy an attachment for a vacuum cleaner that trims up plants.
