Since the average Republican is significantly older than the average Democrat, far more Republicans than Democrats have died since the 2012 elections. To make matters worse, the GOP is attracting fewer first-time voters. Unless the party is able to make inroads with new voters, or discover a fountain of youth, the GOP’s slow demographic slide will continue election to election. Actuarial tables make that part clear, but just how much of a problem for the GOP is this?

I find this interesting. Hopefully the democrats start to die as quickly. I don't support a party system though, I think we should choose politicians because their ideas are good. Most that are "party" affiliated, tend to stick close to the parties lines. Hopefully more people start to understand party politics is no good for anyone, and we as a country continue toward a more independent voter base.

Getting money out of politics would be a great start.

I'd support the idea of tax dollars going to political campaigns and media organizations forced to provide a certain amount of political air play for free. And the dollars and free air play are equally distributed among the candidates. Candidates are required to pay & campaign their way to the general election. But the general election be controlled by a specific dollar amount, divided equally among the candidates.

Agreed. Parties are for freshmen.

Agreed. Allowing money ANY access to politics all but guarantees that those without it won't get any. That's not democracy, that's aristocracy.

Hmm. I think restaurants should be forced to cater their campaign events too. For free, of course.

So what happens when people stop voting republican. Are we going to be stuck with a one party system? Maybe a real liberal party will emerge to take on the democrats.
