I bought this stuff from home depot, only costs five bucks, its in a white aerosol can (no cfc's) is organic (2% peppermint oil and some other shit) and it kills on contact, I'm watching a gnat go through its death throws under the dope scope as we speak (it pleases me to no end). I'm spraying the surface of the soil in short bursts for like a total of 2-3 seconds, then I mix the first inch of soil up to get the stuff down a lil deeper (the spray is very fine so it doesnt exactly soak in) and then I spray a lil more on top for good measures. I'm also adding a layer of sand on top ( 1/2"-1") to bury the little fuckers and to help prevent the adults from getting back in. I will let ya'll know how my progress goes but its one of only two products I've used that kills on contact, gognats does NOT, azatrol does NOT, ed rosenthals own does NOT, only Doktor Doom and this Eco-smart does (and DR.Doom is 15$ compared to 5 for the Esmart). Oh and wear a face mask or a respirator (the mist is so fine when it hits something solid it tends to swirl up in the air), I think I'm feeling light-headed even though it says non-toxic and kid and pet safe...

Yes it is called Eco-Smart. Dish soap? A couple of drops, you must have those San Francisco fungus gnats, these fuckers I have, have survived everything I threw at them, save this shit. If they even walk over it they die, I dont know about when its all dried up, but I also threw sand over the top of the soil, so now nobody goes in, or out. It has no effect on the plants when it is washed through, but I think it will burn your foliage, so dont get too crazy with it, small short bursts. I believe this stuff was intended for outdoor use, so if you use it indoors be prepared for your room to smell like wintergreen chewing gum for the next day or two, on the plus side, GNATS DIE!!!

If you get fungus gnats EVERYTIME you plant, than that would lead to me to think you are either A) using contaminated soil or B) not really killing them 100% of the time like you claim with a few drops of dish soap, I'm just saying....

I use FFOF. And I don't test the whole bag. Only treat it as I use it.

The soil is contaminated , your exactly right Xilohilives rep!

The gnats arent caused by Miracal Grow soil lol.

Look around the store before you buy soil.
Inbetween the bags an under them.
3 out of 4 stores near me are PLAGUED with gnats..

Ps isnt Your avatar the Myan god of flowers or somthing?

That's what I was thinking, most bags of soil have small holes in them straight from the manufacturer, a perfect pathway for small insects to get in and lie dormant, even still, I dont think your 100% method, is um, 100%. Yeah my avatar is the mayan/aztec god of fruits and flowers, or anything that grows from the earth (flora) I make several offerings a day to him, some include burning babies at an altar. Is it just me or is your avatar dancing to my pandora station LOL!

RZZA, I've only used that dont bug stuff one time, it was outdoors, and it seemed to work, even outdoors where there was a whole host of bugs waiting, aphids and caterpillars were chewing my leaves, so I sprayed the pots and everything within a 6ft radius. It worked but they were harvested 2wks later anyways, if your indoors I'm sure it'll work just fine.

ps. scarhole, Xochipilli is the name of the aztec god that is on my avatar, just so you know

Im not sure why you would believe that I would make that up. I think I wasnt being clear earlier. Every bag of FFOF I have bought had those stupid gnat's eggs in it. If I did nothing, the gnats showed up after a week or so. My girl told me about that method and I didnt think it would work either so I let the soil dry for an extra two days and watered with plain water and three drops of regular dawn dish soap. It killed all of them and now I treat my soil this way after it is in the pot but before I plant in it. I havent had bugs in my grow area ever since. If you want more punch you can add powdered pepper to the mix for more of a kick.

I know it is a method you probably havent heard of before but it does work for me %100 of the time.

I wasnt trying to imply that you were fibbing, just that perhaps you were mistaken, btw if that ocean forest soil was always contaminated why did you continue to buy it, I would've called the manufacturer or the store of purchase and demanded compensation, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. No I have not heard of the soap method nor have I tried, I'm sorry for knocking it without first trying it, I'm a skeptic, especially after using way worse chemicals than dawn dish soap, would palm olive do the same thing, because seriously I hate these things, perhaps I'll try it on one plant today and let you know, but its hard to tell if the soap water dries out one may just fly back in the soil and wreak havoc again, and I'm too skeptical to try it on all of them, but I suppose it couldnt be any worse than all the other shit I have used, so just three drops per gallon, did you use a dropper or just poured it straight from the bottle?

I stick with FFOF cause Ive had great results with it and gnats are easy enough to take care of if you get them early. But yeah, just a squeeze a couple drops into a gallon. I would recommend doing it to all of them so it doesn't get re infested.

yes the dawn soap in a spray bottle works great for gnats and other insects. I've never had to use it on my bud plants, but I have used it many of times on my succulent plants, and outdoor garden plants.

Also ive sprayed it on the soil and on the leaves of my plants as well. no leaf burning or harm has been done to any of my plants..

Blue dawn... Any non anti bacterial soap really but the blue stuff is bestm detergent free and wont effect ur plants. Ive seen up to a tbsp in a 5g bucket not effect plants. Diametacious earth or sand are essential in this process though.
