Grape God Harvest Question

Aloha guys,

So I am a luck devil, I am harvesting grape god sometime in the next 2-7 days. Tomorrow will be day 50 in flowering, and everything is looking tip top. I have been doing some research on when to "properly" harvest, and not meaning to open up a can of worms, but for this particular strain, when is a good time to harvest for the known "couch lock" effect for this strain?
My trichomes right now are I would say 75% milk and 25% clear, no amber trichs as of yet. I would say the hairs are 50% red now too. I have really bad nerve pain in my rotator cuff and lower back, so I would love to harvest just when the strain is potent enough to give me the sleepy stuff for a good nights sleep. Much mahalo. Aloha
BTW- I am flushing w. h20

Most strains start the couch lock when you start seeing amber. This usually doesn't happen until the majority of hairs are red. I have terrible nerve pain and muscle spasms also. I've found above 20% amber you start missing out on a lot of heady effects and get way more body effects. I find a good balance is right when there are amber heads speckled (~1-5%) in the zone of maturation (most strains start at the top but occasionally they will amber from below.)

Awesome job evaluating those trichs. Keep that up and noone else will be able to tell you the perfect time to harvest for what you are looking for; the plant will.

Thanks man. Ya I have yet to harvest a true "indica" leaning strain, so this is kinda new for me. I had an HSO trainwreck that ended up being totally indica dom (leading me to believe it was not a true Aurora trainwreck). The smoke/effects though were all indica, and it was a freaking put you on your ass kinda toke. I am a heavy doser, but living in Hawaii, Sativa hybrids tend to do better because of the humidity etc.
So with my indoor set up I have going, I am giving indica strains a try. So close, the stuff looks fucking dank. Will post a pic tomorrow. Too stoned >.<

I'd wait at least til day 60 if you want the "couch lock"

id always chop around 55-56 days and that was just starting to get you more of an even stone cause 50 was to straight to the head high. So 60 should be what you're lookin for. Check the link in my sig for more info.

and throw up some pictures of he grape god you're plannin on harvesting

our grape god looks alot more sativa dom than mine so id let it go even longer than I suggested.

also the kings kush I am growing seems like it'd be good for your type of pain. I haven't smoke it yet but it's mostly indica so I can only assume its good for pain

Ya it's def sativa dom. It's funny because I have an indica dom that is two weeks behind this GG, and she is about half the size and alot smaller leaves. Due to the light, the pictures really cant shot the yellowing of the lower fan leaves. I will definitely let them go for at least another week( getting low on buds :( ). I just checked them again this morning, and they are getting so milky!
Budsbro- Did you notice swelling in the last few weeks with this strain, or did it just get frostier? And another thing, not to question your growing abilities, but aren't amber trichomes degrading THC? I.e, the more amber trics that are on the plant, the less potent it will be? Thus harvesting 20% seems like alot opposed to 10%, your thoughts?

It did swell up all the way until harvest. Mine was indica Dom but with skinny sativa leaves (goods combo IMO)

as for harvesting you can't be sure unless you do it. After the first 3 harvests of my GG I had my date locked into 56 days into flowering unless some outside stress caused a problem.

Amber trichs do mean degraded the but for your situation where you need it for pain the more total thc and other canabinoids the better. Harvest a few times on days you think they're done one early one "on time" and one late. Then decide what best suits you.

They look pretty good so far and yellowing lower leaves mean nitrogen def or p/k def if te yellow turn to brown spots

Thanks budbro for your input man, really appreciate it. I know it is N def, p/k is fine, I just notice that the yellowing is becoming more gradual as in the last stages of life. And the info for the cannabinoids, awesome. I have been looking at dozens of threads as far as when to harvest, I will let the ambers slowly come in and let it fill out some more. Great info and very useful grow journal.
Another strain I am growing for pain is NL from Nirvana, I found one really fruitloops/body stone and I am going to experiment with a og kush 18 (freebie). Cheers to you good sir.

Sounds good! my friend ran nirvanas NL for a while and got the most consistent results out of different seeds.

He had about 20 and they didnt differ more than a few inches and all had the exact same grow pattern

they got that one locked down!

good luck!

I've done quite a bit of research on this strain as I currently have a room full (see pic) of them just starting in flowering and wanted to have everything covered. There are a few great grows on RIU if you search. Mine are going to day 62 per others recommendations and grow results.

GrapeGod is a high yielding excellent smoke well worth growing that should when properly grown give you a hint of sour diesel type aftertaste. Its advertised as a 50 or so day strain but Ive never seen any worth smoking that hasn't had at least 60 to 63 days of bloom time...it really shines when you can give it a 25 to 30 degree temp. swing from lights on to off, it'll make it show some serious colors and frost right up there with the frostiest of bud IMO and stone you good n hard.
****Tip..somewhere in between weeks 4 to 6 it can use a bit of a boost with some form of cal-mag(I let the slight yellowing of leaves tell me its time) The boost will really make it thrive and increase yield.
