Grow No. 4

Did some research and found that my bulb Hortilux Super HPS 600 watt (http://www.eyehortilux.com/products/hps/SystemReqs/lu600shtlen/66710) can be used in a universal position but because I don’t have the proper parts to run it the right way, I went ahead and switched everything back to the original setup. But on my next grow after read the great information on vertical growing, I think I will be looking into some different system setups. Here is an update for day 35, as of tonight at 11 (due to DST or it would have been midnight) I will change the timer to 12:12 (11am – 11pm) don't mind the temp meters, I had to reset them for the new week.

(OG Kush)
(Alquimista)
(Pineapple Chunk)
(Bubba 76)

Thanks everyone for following along, I hope that my cutting of the fan leaves early on helped people with the whole do/don't cut them thing. I tried to explain to people that the plant will fill back out with new growth. I'm debating if I want to trim them back again but if I do it will be after I get later into bloom.

I'm glad to see it worked out for you, 'cause I know when I yanked off a couple fan leaves from my Indica, she pretty much stopped everything for almost 2 weeks, and that was about month and half into flower, maybe 2 months.
Do you have a trick to making your side branches so thick? I have all my side branches tied up on my Sativa, and my Indica was basically just a stalk, no branches..

@imchucky I think my OG Kush was stunted but I'm just going to keep everything going as planned. Now for making the branches thicker, just add more air circulation to your plants, the air/wind hitting the plants will cause the plants to become stronger to handle the environment they are in, IMO. I know that on my next grow I'm thinking about going back to DWC's or an RDWC because I have noticed that hydroponic grown plants grow a whole lot bigger a lot faster, there is just little less room for error.

Mine are outdoors, and they look like toothpicks compared to yours, LOL

Hmmm... I really don't know what to say on that one, I've never grown outdoor but I have always wished that I could...maybe one day. Do you have any pics of your babies and how long have they been growing?

I'll put some up tomorrow if I remember to take the usual 'monday pics', I forgot last week.
I already chopped about the top 6" off my Indica, (got 18.6g wet wt., but after drying, was only 8.5g) but only picked a small sparkly bud and some smallish lower buds off the Sativa.
These are the ones I always mention, that had no veg, and no light basically for the first month and half, then went outside, until now.
They showed first flowers on July 27, and with the mediocre Ga. weather, hot but overcast, humid, some wind, well, you get it. :(
I've been bringing them both in trying to finish them in the closet with 46w of 2700k CFL, and 52w of 6500k in a 2x2 closet for 4 hrs in the evening, because I don't put them out early due to the cold air.

Here ya go Man.....
I'm surprised how well the cola on my Indica turned out, after the rough start they both had, but It's definitely visible on the Sativa.
I don't understand the spindly branches, because they both have been side by side outdoors since late May, and showed flowers July 27.
I chopped the cola on the Indica 2 weeks ago, but the rest of her doesn't seem to be doing anything, although it's not dying either.
You think I should leave it for a while more, or finish her off and call it a deal?

Honestly, I would let her keep going. If you can check the trichs and see if they are milky or amber before you snatch them down.

Oh, definitely, I'm thinking another month or so.
She's gaining weight, but not size.
The Indica is the one I'm getting pissed with, since the remainder you see in the pics hasn't progressed any in 2 weeks since I chopped the cola.
I was just hoping she'd pack on more weight.
The trichs have stayed about 50/50 as well.

That cut might have set the growth back a little bit but I have never grown outdoors so I'm not really sure.

Here is an update of my plants going into flower. Here I will show a 3 pictures run of the plants.

Before trimming: (10-28-2012 - Day 26)

After trimming: (10-28-2012 - Day 26)

Current (11-05-2012 - Day 36)

I really hope that this will help with the whole thing about leaving versus cutting the fan leaves, I have been doing this same process I have done with every one of my grows, this is just the first time I tracked it right. At this time I have also taken all of the main branches on all plants and topped them, this will be the first time I have ever done this so I can't wait to see how this will turn out. Please give your comments on the trimming and LST, or anything else.

I like the end result, but I don't think I could'a cut mine to look like they lost a fight with a Stihl MS660.
Great end result though!
