I got lucky, my brother is an electrician. He ran ALL wires through conduit into junction boxes that joined industrial timers. He called the company of the makers of the digital ballasts that are being used to adjust breakers to keep from blowing. Never had a problem, never worry about fires, etc. lighting up my dreams.

8 100w hps lights and you're worried about paying a electrician, it's going to be nothing compared with the electricity bill.

8k pulls 40 amps(220v), so a 50 amp breaker will cover that. Your gonna need 48k btu in ac to cool that room. That pulls 40 amps(220v). Gonna need at least 2 20 amps(110v) in dehumidifiers to keep your environment right. Another 20 amps for anything else you'll need to run.

Id run it on a 150 amp subpanel.

Breakers-
50 amp (220v)breaker for lights
2 20 amp (220v) for mini split
3 20 amp (110v) for dehumidifier and miscellaneous items.
You'll need 12/2 for the 20 amp 220v, 12/3 for the 20 amp 110v. 6/2 for the 50 amp 220v.

Your electrician needs to decide on copper vs aluminum for your main feed.
